Job DescriptionPosition Summary Description Administers, monitors, and maintains computing systems, hardware, and software that supports enterprise and utility-specific infrastructure and applications across the corporation, including but not limited to, server hardware, storage systems, operating systems, system support software, utility software, security tools, email systems, laptops, desktops, application software and other software and hardware components. Ensures availability, optimal performance, and security through system level support, complex troubleshooting, and system monitoring/reporting in a manner that complies with applicable NERC and SERC standards, as required, coupled with other industry standards and best practices. Key responsibilities include managing infrastructure, deploying software, performing upgrades, troubleshooting complex issues, overseeing security protocol, providing technical guidance to junior staff, and collaborating on the design and installation of networks. Qualifications and Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, computer engineering, management information system, or network administration from an accredited university. At least five (5) years of progressive experience in an information technology and/or computing environment with at least three (3) years of direct experience as a system administrator installing, monitoring, and maintaining servers, operating systems, security tools, hardware, and software tools in a medium to large scale organization. Core Competencies: Adaptable, Collaborative, Conscientious, Critical-Thinking, Outcome-Driven and Professional Technical Competencies/Skills: • Active Directory, • Operating Systems, • System Administration Concepts, • System Security, • Problem Resolution, • Server Hardware, • Storage Systems, • Network Concepts, • Virtualization Platforms, • Data recovery/Back-Up, • Effective verbal/nonverbal, listening, and written communications, • Takes Initiative, • Reliable, • Planning and Organizing, • Innovative, • Documentation Essential Functions • Installing, configuring, and maintaining servers, storage, server-based system software, operating systems and other non-system software for optimal performance and reliability, including development and maintenance of accurate records, documents, and diagrams of the server and storage environments, • Implementing and monitoring security policies, managing user access controls, conducting vulnerability scans, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements specific to the electric utility sector, • Proactively monitoring server and storage systems, analyzing performance trends relating to capacity, availability, and security, implementing configuration enhancements to achieve high availability and stability, and recommending other improvement opportunities to provide service delivery more efficiently and effectively, • Overseeing system upgrades, patches, hardware/software installations, and managing data integrity through backups and disaster recovery plans, • Coordinate with vendors on hardware and software failures and associated resolutions, manage contracts, contribute to project proposals for system additions, modifications and upgrades, and update management accordingly, • Assess and recommend appropriate disposal of defective or obsolete equipment in compliance with corporate investment recovery procedures, • Leading or participating in business technology projects, recommending new technologies, and contributing to the development and execution of infrastructure roadmaps, • Provide high level technical support, including troubleshooting complex issues, offering guidance and direction to system administrators and PC technicians, and training to end-users on system usage and best practices, • Lead the design and architecture of server-based and storage systems, • Manage the lifecycle of hardware and software, including upgrades, replacements, and new installation, • Tracks and reports on the progress of all assigned tasks ensuring management’s awareness of project status, • Performs other duties as applicable to the position or as assigned, • NERC Compliance: Performs NERC Compliance Program roles if/as designated in Seminole’s Standard Ownership Matrix (SOM) including ongoing evidence retention in “audit-ready” form. You should also be familiar with Seminole’s Enterprise Internal Compliance Program (ENT-GCD-RGC-EP-054) to further your understanding of Seminole’s compliance program and the context of your duties and responsibilities attendant to your designation in the SOM. Physical Requirements Must be able to follow established protective measures including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report. Working Conditions Some travel and work outside of normal business hours. While working in certain areas of the plant there is the potential for exposure to hazards typical of an industrial working environment. Must be capable of working extra hours and/or weekends when necessary to complete a project on time.
