Job Description Machine Operator - Niles, IL 6AM-2:30PM MONDAY-FRIDAY $19/hr Job Description This role supports a flap disc manufacturing operation by setting up, operating, and monitoring production machinery in a fast-paced environment. The Machine Operator works with computerized systems, tools, and production equipment to meet quality standards and production goals while collaborating closely with other operators and team members. Responsibilities • Load production data and work orders into computerized machine systems accurately and on time., • Set up machines and perform all required make-ready activities before each production run., • Operate flap disc production equipment safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures., • Produce work orders according to specifications, quality standards, and production schedules., • Unload finished flap discs from the production line and handle them with care., • Compress finished products and load them onto oven racks for further processing., • Work with other machine operators and the labeling team each morning to unload oven racks and prepare products for the next stage of production., • Inspect products visually for quality and report any defects, irregularities, or issues to supervisors promptly., • Use hand and power tools, tape measures, and other equipment to support production and assembly tasks., • Perform general production duties as needed, including packing, assembly, and maintaining an organized work area., • Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean and safe work environment., • Lift and move materials weighing up to 50–60 pounds as part of regular daily tasks., • Perform repetitive tasks with consistency and attention to detail throughout the shift. Essential Skills • At least 1 year of production experience in a manufacturing or similar environment., • Experience using hand and power tools in a production or assembly setting., • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how machines and tools operate., • Visual inspection experience to identify defects and ensure product quality., • Ability to work comfortably with computers and computerized machine systems., • Ability to use a tape measure and basic hand tools accurately., • Comfort lifting up to 50–60 pounds on a regular basis., • Comfort performing repetitive tasks while maintaining quality and consistency., • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and production specifications., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Previous experience as a machine operator or machine attendant., • Experience working with abrasive products or in an abrasive manufacturing environment., • Prior experience in general production, inspection, and machine operation., • Ability to collaborate effectively with a small, tight-knit production team., • Willingness to learn new equipment and processes in a growing manufacturing operation. Work Environment This position operates on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The work takes place in a clean and spacious warehouse environment with a smaller crew, creating a tight-knit and collaborative culture. You will spend the majority of the day standing while operating flap disc production equipment, using computers, hand and power tools, tape measures, and other production tools. The role involves lifting up to 50–60 pounds, handling oven racks, and performing repetitive tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Niles, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
