Summary of the Vice President, Inventory Management & Procurement (IM&P) The Vice President of Procurement and Inventory Management is a strategic executive responsible for leading all sourcing, purchasing, and inventory optimization functions across the organization. This role drives enterprise-wide efficiency and profitability by leveraging business intelligence, data analytics, and artificial intelligence to enhance decision-making, demand forecasting, and supplier performance. The VP of IM&P oversees purchasing, inventory, logistics, supplier development, and quality. This role ensures cost-competitive sourcing of production and MRO commodities while maintaining a diversified, high-performing supply base with superior quality, delivery, and minimal risk. The VP develops and executes globally optimized purchasing strategies and ensures supplier contracts and purchase order terms align with company and customer standards. As a key member of the team, the VP partners with operations, sales, and finance to ensure the right products are sourced at the right cost, at the right time, and in the right quantity—supporting the company’s mission to deliver superior service, reliability, and value to industrial customers. Responsibilities of the Vice President of Procurement and Inventory Management include, but are not limited to: Strategic Leadership · Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement and inventory strategy aligned with company growth, working capital goals, and customer service excellence. · Drive digital transformation of the supply chain using business intelligence dashboards, predictive analytics, and AI-driven forecasting tools. · Provide leadership across multiple distribution centers and business units to ensure standardization, transparency, and accountability in sourcing and inventory practices. Procurement & Supplier Management · Oversee all strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, supplier risk management, and category strategies across global and domestic suppliers. · Build and manage a high-performing supplier ecosystem that delivers quality, reliability, innovation, and competitive pricing. · Implement AI-driven supplier performance metrics to continuously assess delivery, quality, and total cost of ownership. Inventory Optimization & Demand Planning · Utilize AI and advanced analytics to enhance forecasting accuracy, optimize stock levels, and minimize working capital requirements. · Oversee demand planning, replenishment, and distribution processes to ensure optimal service levels and inventory turns. · Partner with sales, marketing, and operations to synchronize demand and supply planning across business lines. · Reduce obsolescence and improve warehouse utilization through data-driven inventory policies and dynamic safety stock modeling. Operational Excellence & Technology Enablement · Champion the integration of business intelligence platforms and ERP systems to drive real-time visibility and decision support. · Identify automation opportunities using AI, RPA (Robotic Process Automation), and machine learning to streamline purchasing workflows and inventory management. · Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cost control, delivery reliability, and operational efficiency. Financial & Performance Management · Manage procurement and inventory budgets annually, ensuring fiscal discipline and measurable ROI. · Develop and track KPIs such as cost savings, supplier scorecards, inventory turnover, fill rates, and working capital improvement. · Deliver year-over-year improvements in cost efficiency, cycle times, and margin impact through data-driven decisions. Leadership & Culture · Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement and inventory organization focused on collaboration, accountability, and innovation. · Foster a culture of data literacy, digital adoption, and continuous improvement across the supply chain function. · Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Finance, and IT to ensure alignment of supply chain priorities with business objectives. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): · Procurement Cost Savings: % YOY reduction in total spend · Inventory Efficiency: Increased turns, reduced carrying cost, and improved working capital · Forecast Accuracy: % improvement via AI-driven demand models · Supplier Performance: On-time delivery, cost variance, and quality metrics · Digital Adoption: Utilization of BI dashboards and automation tools across the function · Service Level: Order fill rates and customer satisfaction improvements Qualifications of the Vice President of Procurement and Inventory Management include, but are not limited to: · Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field. · 8 –12+ years of progressive experience in procurement, inventory, or supply chain leadership within industrial distribution or manufacturing. · Proven success leading enterprise-level transformation leveraging AI, BI, and digital supply chain technologies. · Expertise in strategic sourcing, supplier development, contract negotiation, and total cost management. · Strong analytical and financial acumen with a focus on cost reduction, service optimization, and risk mitigation. · Knowledge of Microsoft BI and Copilot · Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. · Experience supervising and mentoring a team of direct reports. · Clear driving record, according to company guidelines.
