Job Description Western Truck Exchange is looking for an experienced Automotive Technician (GM Specialist) to join our growing team. We’re building a shop where technicians are supported, respected, and rewarded for skill—especially those who want to grow into (or deepen) a specialty. In this role, you’ll diagnose, repair, and maintain gas vehicles (including GM vehicles and some passenger cars), as well as light-duty trucks, with a focus on safety, quality, and clear communication. COMPENSATION & PERKS • Opportunity to earn $100,000+ annually with a competitive wage system, • Profit Sharing Plan, • Rapid Improvement Plan incentives (quarterly opportunities to earn extra cash), • Paid training, • Employee referral bonus, • Uniform allowance, • Professional standards and real advancement paths, • Perform preventative maintenance inspections, oil changes, chassis lubrication, and identify worn/damaged parts, • Repair/diagnose major systems with minimal supervision (based on skill level), including clutches, electrical systems, hydraulic/air brake systems, HVAC, instruments/gauges, and PM services, • Diagnose/repair major components including gasoline engines (especially GM), drivetrain/powertrain (differentials, transmissions, driveshafts, PTOs, wheel ends), engine bolt-on components (turbochargers, fan clutches, injectors/fuel system components), and electronics (ECM/ECU/sensors), • 5+ years of practical experience in mechanical inspections and repairs, • High school diploma or equivalent, • Proficiency with shop tools/hand tools; ability to supply a basic set of hand tools (as applicable by role/level), • Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus), • Comfortable working in non–climate controlled conditions, • Reliable attendance and punctuality, • Basic computer skills for maintenance systems and documentation, • GM automotive repair experience (including engine performance/driveability, electrical, and diagnostics), • Experience with diagnostic tools, • Experience with GM scan tools/software (e.g., GM MDI/MDI2, GDS2/Techline) a plus, • Experience with CAT and Cummins engine diagnostics/repairs (certified repair environment a plus), • Experience with Allison transmission maintenance and rebuild-related services, • Experience working on International and Mitsubishi Fuso medium-duty platforms, • Complete and submit an application, • Interviews: typically at least two conversations to confirm fit both ways, • Background check (employment/education/criminal history) and drug screening At Western Truck Exchange, we believe our people are the driving force that keeps our customers—and the transportation industry—moving forward.
