Job DescriptionOur client is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join their team! The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for overseeing all activities related to inventory accounting, including transactions impacting the inventory subledger, valuation methods, and cost monitoring. This role requires expertise in inventory accounting principles, variance analysis, and reconciliation practices. The Senior Cost Accountant will collaborate with supply chain, production, accounting, and finance teams to ensure accurate, transparent, and timely inventory and cost reporting. The Senior Cost Accountant will lead the monthly close process for inventory modules, including preparation of journal entries and related reconciliations as well as maintain and enhance controls to ensure ERP inventory subledger accuracy and alignment with source systems. In this role you will track, analyze, and explain purchase price variances, deliver fluctuation analyses to support product profitability reporting and you will be a partner with production and supply chain teams to investigate and resolve purchase price variances, updating standard costs as needed. The Senior Cost Accountant will support physical and cycle count procedures, review results, and recommend process improvements, evaluate inventory for excess and obsolete reserves, posting related entries in accordance with company policy. In this role you will review and maintain standard costs, including periodic Bill of Materials updates and cost reviews for new product setups, provide cost and inventory documentation and analysis to external auditors, ensure integrity and confidentiality in all financial reporting and assist with other accounting and finance initiatives as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in inventory and cost accounting. Strong knowledge of US GAAP, inventory functions, and standard cost methodologies. Advanced Excel and analytical skills with the ability to extract and interpret data from multiple systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP experience strongly preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proactive, hands-on team player with strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
