Job DescriptionJob Title: Instrumentation TechnicianJob Description The Instrumentation Technician supports plant reliability by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing industrial instrumentation, automation, electrical, networking, and control systems used in wallboard manufacturing operations. This role works closely with plant operations, maintenance personnel, and corporate IT to enhance production efficiency, improve equipment reliability, and promote safe plant operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities • Troubleshoot, maintain, configure, and support PLCs, RSLogix software, and HMI/MMI systems to ensure reliable plant operations., • Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot plant instrumentation systems, including pressure transducers, temperature devices, lasers, moisture sensors, and other specialized production equipment., • Program, troubleshoot, configure, and support variable frequency drives (VFDs) used in industrial applications., • Troubleshoot and maintain industrial electrical, instrumentation, automation, and control systems to minimize downtime and support continuous production., • Install and troubleshoot fiber optic cabling, RJ45 network cables, CAT5/CAT6 Ethernet systems, and industrial networking equipment., • Read, interpret, and complete electrical drawings and sketches to support maintenance, upgrades, and new installations., • Troubleshoot industrial networking systems and assist with switch configuration as needed., • Use maintenance ERP and work order systems, such as Oracle, to document work, track tasks, and support maintenance planning., • Troubleshoot and maintain specialized production systems, including lasers, moisture sensors, profiling systems, and related automation equipment., • Organize, plan, and complete electrical and instrumentation projects with minimal supervision while meeting safety and quality standards., • Apply strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills to diagnose complex issues in instrumentation, controls, and networking systems., • Work safely around high-voltage electrical systems, moving machinery, elevated work areas, and industrial equipment in accordance with plant safety rules and NFPA 70E electrical standards., • Comply with all plant safety rules and procedures and actively contribute to a safe working environment., • Work overtime, weekends, other shifts, and respond to call-outs as needed to support plant operations., • Perform job duties in a physically demanding industrial environment, including standing, walking, climbing, and working in various plant conditions.Essential Skills, • Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining industrial electrical, instrumentation, automation, or control systems., • Experience troubleshooting Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMI/MMI systems; additional experience with similar platforms is a plus., • Working knowledge of industrial instrumentation and electrical systems, including VFDs and process instrumentation., • Hands-on experience with calibration and troubleshooting of pressure transducers, temperature devices, instrumentation devices, and 4–20 mA loops., • Experience installing and troubleshooting fiber optics, RJ45 network cables, CAT5/CAT6 Ethernet systems, and industrial networking equipment., • Ability to read, interpret, and complete electrical drawings and sketches accurately., • Experience troubleshooting industrial networking systems; familiarity with switch configuration is a plus., • Strong computer skills and experience using maintenance ERP or work order systems, such as Oracle, preferred., • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining specialized production systems, including lasers, moisture sensors, profiling systems, and related automation equipment, is a plus., • Ability to organize and complete electrical and instrumentation projects with minimal supervision., • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills in an industrial environment., • Ability to work safely around high-voltage electrical systems, moving machinery, elevated work areas, and industrial equipment., • Ability to comply with all plant safety rules and NFPA 70E electrical standards., • Willingness and ability to work overtime, weekends, other shifts, and respond to call-outs as needed., • Ability to perform effectively in a physically demanding industrial environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLCs, RSLogix software, and HMI/MMI systems., • Knowledge of industrial networking concepts and basic switch configuration., • Experience with lasers, moisture sensors, profiling systems, and other advanced production instrumentation., • Comfort using maintenance ERP systems, with Oracle experience considered an advantage., • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while maintaining high safety and quality standards., • Strong attention to detail and documentation practices when working with electrical and instrumentation systems., • Ability to collaborate effectively with operations, maintenance, and IT teams in a manufacturing environment.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing plant environment operating Monday through Friday, typically from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You work around high-voltage electrical systems, moving machinery, elevated work areas, and industrial equipment in a physically demanding setting. The role involves regular interaction with PLCs, RSLogix, HMI/MMI systems, VFDs, industrial instrumentation, lasers, moisture sensors, profiling systems, fiber optics, RJ45 and CAT5/CAT6 Ethernet cabling, and industrial networking equipment. You follow strict plant safety rules and NFPA 70E electrical standards, using appropriate personal protective equipment and adhering to established procedures while working in a fast-paced production environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Albuquerque, NM. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $42.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
