Job DescriptionJob Title: Shipping and Receiving Specialist – 1st Shift Job Description The Shipping and Receiving Specialist ensures that all outgoing and incoming products are accurately documented, safely handled, and delivered on time to meet customer requirements. This role combines computer-based coordination and documentation with hands-on warehouse activities to support a high-volume manufacturing operation. The specialist plays a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting supply chain processes, and delivering high-quality service to internal and external customers. Responsibilities • Coordinate all products scheduled to ship within specified timeframes, ensuring they are properly documented, packaged, and safely secured for transport., • Prepare and manage shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, and other required forms, ensuring accuracy and compliance with customer requirements., • Verify quantities and confirm that all customer specifications for transport and packaging are met prior to shipment., • Confirm shipments in the computer system, update order status, and maintain accurate backorder records., • Prepare detailed delivery lists for trucks and ensure all outbound loads are organized and ready for on-time dispatch., • Consult daily with supervisors and managers to understand shipping and receiving priorities and ensure on-time delivery and high levels of customer satisfaction., • Ensure all required documents and forms are available and complete when reviewing and processing backorders., • Inspect and receive incoming materials and products from subcontractors, vendors, and platers, checking for accuracy, quality, and conformity to requirements., • Handle all rejected parts from subcontractors, vendors, and platers, and coordinate with the Quality Engineering department to obtain approval and disposition for all non-conforming items., • Enter accurate receiving data into the computer network and maintain up-to-date records of incoming materials., • Perform physical counts of parts and materials as required, both prior to shipping and upon receipt from subcontractors, vendors, and platers., • Support general warehouse activities such as labeling, picking, packaging, wrapping pallets, moving skids, and maintaining a clean and orderly work area., • Use material handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, to move products safely and efficiently within the facility., • Maintain a strong focus on attention to detail throughout all shipping and receiving operations to prevent errors and ensure data accuracy., • Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments to support smooth workflow and continuous improvement in shipping and receiving processes.Essential Skills, • Proven experience in shipping and receiving operations, including labeling, warehouse inventory, packaging, and picking., • Strong computer literacy with the ability to work extensively (approximately 80% of the time) on computers for data entry, documentation, and communication., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, and the ability to manage emails and other electronic documentation., • Ability to perform physical tasks (approximately 20% of the time), such as wrapping pallets, moving skids, sweeping floors, and lifting UPS and FedEx boxes., • High level of attention to detail in all aspects of shipping and receiving to ensure accurate documentation, counts, and compliance with customer requirements., • Demonstrated physical stamina, with the ability to remain on your feet for the majority of the shift., • Experience working in a warehouse environment, including handling inventory and packaging activities., • Forklift experience, with the ability to obtain on-site licensing as required., • Ability to regularly lift 30–40 lbs and handle materials safely., • Strong problem-solving skills to address issues related to shipments, inventory discrepancies, and non-conforming materials., • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and quality., • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a collaborative work environment., • Experience or exposure to supply chain management processes is highly beneficial.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks., • Familiarity with manufacturing or industrial environments, including exposure to heavy equipment and related noise levels., • Comfort working with interactive diagrams and written instructions to follow standardized processes., • Background or interest in supply chain management and logistics., • Strong communication skills to work closely with supervisors, managers, and cross-functional teams., • Willingness to participate in on-the-job training and coaching to develop skills and advance within the organization.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing facility in Binghamton, NY, operating on a 1st shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The environment includes exposure to heavy equipment, machinery, and corresponding noise levels typical of a production setting. The position requires frequent walking, standing, bending, squatting, and continuous movement throughout the shift. Employees must be able to lift up to 50 lbs as needed and regularly handle loads in the 30–40 lb range. The facility is well maintained with excellent lighting and organized work areas, supporting safe and efficient operations. You will use computers extensively for data entry and documentation, as well as material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks for moving products and materials around the warehouse and production areas. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Binghamton, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
