Job Description High School Mathematics teacher North Broward Preparatory School is seeking a full-time mathematics teacher with experience and expertise in teaching Pre-Calculus and higher-level secondary mathematics. The ideal candidate will be confident and capable in courses such as pre-calculus, honors pre-calculus and IB/AP Mathematics. The educator should feel comfortable designing courses with practical applications connected to real-world problem-solving; facilitating the transition from concrete to abstract mathematical concepts and creating meaningful and relevant learning experiences for students. This teacher will also serve as an advisor to a group of students, meeting with them twice a week for mentoring, academic coaching, leadership training, team building, and community service initiatives. These are all part of helping our students gain social and emotional learning through the five core competencies of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. The teacher should be familiar with Standards-Based Learning. Applicant should be comfortable working with technology (iPad, computer, graphing calculators, etc.). Opportunities to participate in sponsoring the Math Club and Math Honor Society, and to help students participate in math competitions both locally, nationally, and internationally are possible. LOCATION North Broward Preparatory School, Coconut Creek JOB PURPOSE You’ll help us increase student achievement by serving as a teacher, advocate, and advisor. You’ll explain the established curriculum described in the NBPS curriculum maps by selecting and planning appropriate learning and teaching activities. As a genuine team player, you’ll work across our central, regional, and local teams to improve student outcomes in all areas. PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT/RESPONSIBILITIES ENGAGEMENT AND INTERACTION – SCHOOL AMBASSADOR TO INTERNAL COMMUNITY • Articulate the Mission, Vision, and Values of the school and Nord Anglia, both verbally and in writing., • Understand all elements, goals, and instructional best practice strategies embodied in the academic plan, as well as the ability to clearly articulate the plan to parents and students., • ”Always Better” Commitment, • Walkthrough evaluations with academic leaders, • Parent satisfaction survey, • Strong classroom management skills with a fair and consistent approach., • Ability to encourage student engagement, questions, and open communication., • Proficiency in using various assessment strategies and providing accurate and constructive feedback., • Skill in differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs., • Incorporating higher-order thinking into lessons and personalizing instruction., • Utilizing learning resources and technology to enhance learning experiences., • Familiarity with Standards-Based Learning and integrating technology (iPads, computers, graphing calculators) into teaching methodologies., • Effective organizational skills including but not limited to lesson planning, implementing units of study, differentiating instruction, designing and implementing assessments, • Ability to monitor student progress and report information in a timely manner, • Create an environment that fosters a growth mindset., • Commitment to remaining a lifelong learner focused on growth and improvement., • Conduct research on teaching methods, materials, and language games that can be used in class., • Follow NBPS Professional Protocols, • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred., • Experience with the International Baccalaureate program is not required but helpful., • Familiarity with Rubicon Atlas Maps., • Strong proficiency with Google Suite for education partnered with Canvas learning management system., • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for producing reports and presentations., • Good cross-cultural, interpersonal, and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures., • Excellent analytical skills – with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success., • Results orientated with the ability to consistently map efforts against identified Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)., • Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing with multi-functional tasks.
