Job DescriptionSenior Staff Accountant (Temp to Full-Time) Location: Hybrid Department: Accounting/Finance Reports to: Director of Accounting Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire Compensation: $32-$35/hr Job Summary The Senior Staff Accountant ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting while upholding internal controls and regulatory requirements. You will own key accounting processes-including general ledger activities, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting-and collaborate across functions to support analysis, audits, and special projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with strong GAAP knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and experience with Great Plains (Microsoft Dynamics GP). Key Responsibilities General Ledger Management • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts; ensure timely, accurate postings and adjustments, • Monitor, investigate, and resolve discrepancies; document findings and corrective actionsMonth-End Close, • Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and allocations, • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and close schedules to deliver on deadlinesFinancial Reporting, • Prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements (balance sheet, P&L, cash flow), • Support management reporting packs and KPI variance commentaryReconciliations, • Perform and review bank, asset, liability, intercompany, and other key account reconciliations, • Ensure proper documentation, approvals, and audit trail for all reconciliationsCompliance & Audit Support, • Maintain adherence to internal policies, SOX-aligned controls (where applicable), and GAAP, • Prepare audit schedules and supply data for internal and external audits; address auditor inquiriesVariance Analysis, • Conduct monthly/quarterly variance analysis versus budget, forecast, and prior periods, • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to finance and operational stakeholdersProcess Improvement, • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline close activities and automate workflows, • Contribute to standardization of accounting policies, procedures, and templatesTeam Collaboration & Projects, • Partner with FP&A, Operations, and cross-functional teams to support business decisions, • Participate in system upgrades (e.g., Great Plains), financial modeling, and acquisition integrationQualifications, • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred), • Experience: 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong GAAP knowledge; public accounting experience is a plus, • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Great Plains (Microsoft Dynamics GP) and advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis); familiarity with financial reporting tools is a plus, • Analytical Ability: Proven capability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and translate findings into clear recommendations, • Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy and thoroughness in reconciliations, schedules, and documentation, • Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills; able to explain financial concepts to non-finance partners, • Time Management: Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment, • Teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills; collaborative approach with a focus on service and partnershipBenefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits, and 401K plan.
