Job Summary: Prepare Project and Job cost estimates using Excel templates, utilizing various scope of work documents, drawings, technical information contained in draft sales proposals, client RFQ requirements, Engineering specifications, and other archived related technical information. Essential Functions: • Review and interpret technical drawings and customer specifications to ensure accurate cost projections., • Prepare work scope estimates by gathering from Sales and Projects, the RFQs, draft sales proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents., • Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, drawings, and specifications., • Calculate the scope of work costs through analysis of labor, material, and time needs., • Source industrial materials, subcontractors, and supplies, considering costs and lead times., • Conduct quantity takeoffs and develop cost breakdowns for labor, materials, and equipment., • Collaborate with sales to evaluate bid requirements and ensure timely and complete submission of estimates and supporting documents., • Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and clarify technical or commercial questions., • Infrequent, but some travel and site visits to gain work scope and site requirements., • Resolve scope and supply discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information from Sales, Clients, and Vendors., • Collaborate with Sales, Field Projects, Shop Fabrication, Engineering, and Quality Control departments to optimize and refine estimates., • Present estimates during bid/estimate reviews by compiling and displaying numerical and descriptive data., • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends., • Maintain cost and job estimate data in shared job files., • Analyze post projects versus estimates to identify areas for improvement., • Enhance personal technical knowledge through training, workshops, and reviewing technical publications., • Perform additional duties or special projects assigned., • Support peers and management with other internal or external projects., • Adhere to company policies., • Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Skill and Effort: Work requires general computer proficiency, MS Excel experience, a moderate typing speed, attention to detail, and a high level of data entry accuracy. Work involves only light, simple physical exertion. Working Conditions and Hazards: Normal office conditions. Infrequent local and regional travel. Negligible or no exposure to hazardous conditions or materials Do You Qualify? Education: A High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory. Five years’ experience in a similar industrial/technical position may be substituted. Experience: Computer competency, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, is required. Basic understanding of HVAC industry terminology is a plus. This position requires at least five years’ experience in a similar industrial/technical position.
