Job Description Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Seamstress with formal wear experience to join our team. As a Thimble Seamstress, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and performing alterations and repairs on garments at your home workspace. Requirements: * You must own a sewing machine at home, as this is a work from home position. * At least 3 Years experience as a seamstress/performing formal dress alterations. * Proven experience working with Bridal, Prom or Evening Dresses is preferred. * Proficiency in using sewing machines and other alteration tools. * Strong knowledge of garment construction techniques. * Excellent attention to detail and ability to perform precise measurements. * Basic math skills for measuring and calculating fabric requirements. * Ability to maintain high-quality standards. * Strong communication and customer service skills. Responsibilities: * Perform alterations and repairs on garments, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, working with multiple laters and replacing buttons or zippers. * Use sewing machines, hand tools, and other equipment to complete tailoring tasks. * Provide exceptional customer service by assisting our customers with fitting and ensuring their satisfaction with the finished product. * Take accurate measurements from customers during fittings. * Maintain a clean and organized work area at home where the work is done. At Notre Dame, your work matters, and so do you! Job Description The Seamstress is responsible for performing basic sewing and repair of textile items. This includes mending tears, hemming garments, replacing zippers, and performing other simple alterations or repairs to ensure items meet quality and appearance standards. The role requires attention to detail, consistent workmanship, and the ability to work efficiently in a production or service environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Perform basic sewing tasks including hemming, stitching, patching, and repairing seams., • Replace zippers, buttons, hooks, and other fasteners as needed., • Operate commercial sewing machines and related tools safely and efficiently., • Inspect garments and linens for needed repairs and perform mending as directed., • Maintain an organized work area., • Perform simple measurements and markings to ensure proper fit and finish., • Maintain quality control standards for all completed work., • Adhere to all safety procedures and complete required safety trainings., • Assist with other department duties as assigned.Qualifications, • High school diploma or equivalent preferred., • Basic sewing skills and experience operating sewing machines., • Ability to perform routine repairs and alterations accurately., • Attention to detail and quality workmanship., • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity., • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions., • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods., • Frequent use of hands, fingers, and small tools., • Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs., • Good vision for detailed work.
