Wearing a respirator to perform certain tasks is a requirement for safety. You will need to keep face shaven to wear the respirator correctly. JOB OVERVIEW: Reporting to the Shift or Mix Lead or directly to the Production Supervisor, the Mixer Operator engages in the mixing activities and duties of the Mixing Department contributing to a safe, world-class quality, efficient operation. Verify the raw materials to the Weigh sheet and stage materials accordingly recording their lot numbers and quantities that are added to the mixing tank or vat., 4. Add and mix raw materials according to defined procedures and record lot numbers accurately., 6. Return the “Used” Raw material skids to the staging area or warehouse., 7. Test pastes for temperature, Viscosity, and any other attributes per established procedures and/or practices., 8. Notify Lead and/or supervisor of any out-of-specification test results., 9. Clean and 5S area and equipment to maintain a safe and spill-free environment., 10. Clean up spills, report any over 1 lb. or more immediately to Lead, Supervisor, Production or HSE Manager., 11. Label and move scrap paste, acetone, and styrene drums to proper storage location., 12. Accurately and proactively warm up A and C-sides as required by the SMC lines., 13. Notify supervisor of any mechanical problems with mix, equipment, errors, or hazards, etc., 14. Provide records and reports as required by the Quality Management System., 15. Performs miscellaneous tasks in production area as directed by the Group Leader or Production Supervisor. 16. Responsible for handling, labeling, and record keeping of Hazardous Waste., 17. Assure vats, valves, and lids are clean and free of contamination before mixing in the vessel or placing a lid over it. Have a Lead, Supervisor, or QC Technician verify the cleanliness of the vessel before proceeding with mixing in the vessel., 18. Be sure to mix ingredients in the order of addition and in the quantities requested., 19. Be 100% trained and competent in ‘breaking down’ mixing equipment blades, LOTO out the Mixers, Hockmeyer and Cowles, before performing. Execute accordingly each time required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS): • BE A CHAMPION OF SAFETY and lead by example wearing ALL PPE required to perform job duties, (Safety Goggles, Proper uniforms, cut resistant gloves) and ensure production personnel are also following all plant safety rules., • Identify unsafe acts and conditions. Job Description Molding Products is looking for a Shar Operator to add to 2nd shift! Mon - Fri, 2:00pm - 10:30pm $21.00/hr + $2.00 shift premium JOB OVERVIEW: Reporting to the Production Supervisor or of Molding Products, the Shar Operator (Mixer) will supply both SMC1 and SMC2 with an A-Paste mixture that is needed for the compacting process by operating a series of operations through HMI screens directing the Shar mixers based on a batch sheet that is product specific. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS): • Champions and leads by example wearing all PPE to perform job duties, (safety glasses/goggles, proper uniforms, cut resistant gloves, etc.)., • Identifies unsafe acts and/or conditions. Resolve if safely possible and report to supervisor any unsafe act or condition., • Continuously monitor and react to spills particularly those generated by the Shar mixers. Complete Work Orders if the root cause is faulty equipment and communicate to supervisor. Any spill greater than 1 gallon needs to be reported to the Production Supervisor, Production Manager, or HSE Manager., • Follow the batch sheet provided by the Production Supervisor without deviation., • Hand weigh small ingredients to be added into the batch manually., • Dump powders that are in bags into hoppers to be used at the shar mixers., • Verify the drums, contents and quantities, before starting the Shar operation. Compare the labels on the drums to the batch sheet to make sure they are the same. If there is any difference, contact your supervisor. At the end of your shift, be sure all empty drums have been replaced for the incoming Shar Operator unless directed differently by your supervisor., • Locate materials in the warehouse and retrieve with a forklift to be used at the Shar mixers., • Record lot numbers, weights pulled from the HMI screen, any downtime, viscosity checks for each mix, Hold tank number material is to be transferred to, and any variances on the batch sheet., • Identify, verify, and label the Hold Tank that you will pump the A-paste into before transferring product. Label Hold Tanks with Schedule, batch, and formula numbers when transferring into them., • Label and dispose of scrap material into the proper waste stream., • Operate the supersack station when needed., • Replace empty material drums with new unless directed by supervisor to do something other., • Fill catalyst kettles on a daily basis. Use a supervisor or Lead to verify the material before adding., • Help maintain the cleanliness of the catalyst room., • Dump trash hoppers as they fill on a daily basis., • Retrieve and submit samples to the QC lab for testing., • Do quality checks for viscosity and temps on every batch., • Communicate with the maintenance department and the Production supervisor when machinery breaks down., • Restock pre-weigh station with raw materials, buckets, pail liners, and pre-weigh containers as needed., • Report on stock of buckets, pre-weigh containers, and pail liners so that we may get more ordered., • Fill out daily 6’s checklist sheets that monitors progress for the day., • Fill out daily downtime reports for lost time on the machinery., • Log completed batch numbers and time of completion at QC check table when doing the viscosity checks., • Turn in all completed paperwork at shifts end., • Generate work orders for machine issues., • Communicate with oncoming Production Supervisor, and Shar Operator as to where the shar’s stand and any issues you have had throughout the day., • Always be present when the Shar is transferring product and always seek Maintenance or Supervisory guidance and assistance before attempting to do anything manual on the Shar. Must be able to operate, troubleshoot packaging equipment according to scheduled production needs. Set-up, operate and disassemble, processing equipment in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and GMPs. Operate processing equipment, grinding, batching, extrusion, drying, coating, fresh meat according to scheduled production needs. Duties and Responsibilities: • Experienced in setting up and operation of packaging equipment and processing equipment, • Experienced with equipment and use of tools to do change over’s in Packaging and Processing, • Experience with Video Jet printers, • Experience in maintaining records and logs during packaging and Processing, • Experienced in processing and Packaging quality checks on Red Zone, • Must be trained in IFS, Wonderware, WMS, Red Zone., • Observe and assure all Techs maintain safe, efficient machine operation on all production lines, • Must be able to operate and disassemble, processing and packaging equipment in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and GMPs, • Experience with Outlook 365 so production updates and summaries are sent to the leadership team, • Follow and hold others accountable for following all company Good Manufacturing Practices., • May require weekend coverage based on production needs., • Review and manage employee timecards, including:, • Submitting time-off requests in the system in partnership with the Area Manager prior to approval., • Ensuring required timekeeping documentation is accurately completed and submitted to HR., • Reviewing and submitting temporary employee timecards., • Monitor and ensure compliance with scheduled break and lunch times., • Responsible for distributing employee paychecks and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)., • Support attendance tracking by completing attendance-related documentation and write-ups and assisting with other corrective action documentation as directed by the Area Manager., • Train and onboard new hires, including job-specific tasks, safety practices, and production expectations., • Ensure assigned production line runs smoothly and efficiently during the shift., • Lead and facilitate shift huddles to communicate production goals, safety topics, and key updates. Workplace Safety: • Completes safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to Supervisor., • Participates in mandatory safety trainings and adheres to all safety policies, • Required to report all safety issues, near misses, and injuries Quality & Food Safety: • Complete quality and food safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to Supervisor., • Responsible to participate in mandatory food safety and quality training program requirements., • Preserve the integrity of the BRC system through adherence to the policies and procedures outlined in the Quality Policy Manual. Takes actions necessary to resolve food safety and quality system deficiencies., • Required to report food safety and quality system failures and take actions necessary to preserve the BRC system. Required Qualifications: • Understands plant process flow., • Positive attitude, safety mindset, strong work ethic, team builder/flexible, customer and quality focused, not easily frustrated, desire to work hands on and excellent communication and interpersonal skills, • Must be able to read and understand English to be able to communicate with Supervisor/Manager and comprehend work instructions., • Dependable with ability to work with minimal supervision, • Forklift experience and/or certification, • Sound understanding and/or experience/aptitude with packaging systems and conveying equipment, • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively and in a positive manner, • Demonstrate ability to work well in teams and as a leader when Supervisor is absent, • Demonstrate willingness to assume extended job responsibility and exercise good judgment in decision making, • Must possess effective written and oral communication skills and be able to handle multiple projects within limited time frames, • Excellent attention to detail, • Able to work according to production schedule, overtime may be required, • Strong inter-personal and team building skills, • Sufficient computer skills to operate and adjust machine to meet product specifications., • Ability to lift 35-50 pounds, stand, walk, push/pull up to 50 pounds, reach overhead, and bend to the floor, • Some form of technical education which emphasizes strong analytical thinking preferred Equal Opportunity Employer: United Petfood Producers USA Inc. is an equal opportunity workplace.
