Job Description At World View we are looking to add a Commodity Manager reporting to the Vice President Program Support. You will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for various commodities, with immediate priority and focus on electrical systems and printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA), that support the company’s product roadmap and operational requirements. This role requires a strong technical foundation in electrical systems and PCB design and manufacturing, combined with commercial acumen and supplier development expertise. The Commodity Manager will act as the primary interface between engineering, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and suppliers, ensuring that technical design decisions translate into scalable, cost-effective, and reliable supply solutions. The Commodity Manager serves as a strategic partner to engineering while maintaining commercial discipline across a complex and technical supplier base. You will play a key role in supporting our efforts as we expand our Remote Sensing and Space Tourism initiatives. Role Responsibilities Commodity Strategy & Sourcing· Develop and own sourcing strategies for various commodities, including electrical components, subassemblies, PCBs, and PCBAs.· Lead supplier selection, qualification, and sourcing decisions in partnership with engineering and quality.· Drive cost reduction initiatives through design-to-cost, value engineering, should-cost modeling, and supplier negotiations.· Manage RFQs and RFPs, commercial and lead-time negotiations, and supplier contracts for assigned commodities.· Identify and secure prototyping suppliers for quick turnaround during product development. Technical Collaboration· Partner closely with electrical engineering teams to understand requirements, schematics, BOMs, PCB stack-ups, and design trade-offs.· Provide supply chain input, and/or facilitate supplier interactions, during product development, including component selection, DFM/DFA considerations, lifecycle risk, and alternate sourcing.· Evaluate suppliers’ technical capabilities, including process controls, yields, and test methodologies. Supplier Management· Establish strong relationships with key suppliers· Own ongoing supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery, and responsiveness.· Lead supplier business reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.· Identify and mitigate supply risks, including single-source dependencies, capacity constraints, and obsolescence. Cross-Functional Execution· Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and procurement to ensure smooth NPI transitions and production ramp-ups.· Support issue resolution related to quality, yield, or availability for assigned commodities.· Ensure sourcing strategies align with regulatory, compliance, and quality requirements.· Proactively provide management with forecasts and reports, including updates on critical issues, risks, and opportunities Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)· 5+ years of experience in commodity management, strategic sourcing, or procurement with a focus on electrical components, PCBAs, and/or electronics· Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, PCBA layouts, and technical specifications· Familiarity with relevant IPC standards for PCB design, fabrication, and assembly· Strong negotiation and supplier management skills· Able to read, draft, and negotiate contracts of all sorts, including statements of work· Demonstrated ability to work in cross functional settings, including with Engineering, Manufacturing, Programs, Finance, and Quality· Experience working in AS9100 and ISO 9001 environments· Must be a self-starter· General knowledge of FAR/DFARS Government Procurement regulation What We Offer You’ll join a global, supportive, and growing team where your ideas will be heard, and your work will make a real difference.
