Job Description Job Purpose JVM Solutions, Inc. is hiring Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) in the San Antonio, TX area to provide anesthesia services at the Department of Defense's largest medical center. The CRNAs will administer anesthesia independently for all types of surgical cases, including emergency and trauma patients ranging from newborn to geriatric. Duties and Responsibilities • Function as an independent anesthesia provider within the defined scope of awarded privileges granted by the MTF; administer all types of anesthesia including general, spinal, epidural, regional nerve blocks, and local anesthesia, • Perform pre-anesthetic assessments and evaluations, including obtaining informed consent, requesting consultations and/or diagnostic studies, ordering pre-anesthetic medications, and developing and implementing an individualized anesthetic plan of care, • Perform a pre-induction assessment immediately prior to induction of anesthesia, including review of the medical record for completeness, pertinent laboratory data, time and dosage of pre-anesthesia medication, appraisal of any changes in the patient's condition, and any previous anesthetic experiences and complications, • Maintain the patient's physiologic homeostasis throughout procedures; collect and interpret patient physiological data using noninvasive monitoring modalities and correct abnormal responses to anesthesia and/or surgery, • Manage the patient's airway, pulmonary status, and fluid therapy throughout anesthesia care, • Manage patient emergence and recovery from anesthesia by maintaining homeostasis, providing relief from pain and anesthesia side effects, and preventing and managing complications through selecting, obtaining, ordering, and administering medications, fluids, or ventilator support, • Record all pertinent events during the introduction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia, including dosage and duration of all anesthetic agents, other drugs, intravenous fluids, and blood or blood components for all patients receiving anesthesia care; record post-anesthetic visit notes including at least one note describing the presence or absence of anesthesia-related complications, • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary surgical teams as necessary, • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of anesthesia equipment, • Serve as a clinical resource and assist with training of other staff personnel in anesthesia care, • Attend and participate in professional staff meetings, surgical services meetings, and anesthesia service meetings as scheduled, • Participate in department quality improvement activities including chart audits and quality of care studies, • Prepare service reports and collect data as requested by the MTF, • Comply with all MTF policies regarding patient confidentiality, medical records, safety procedures, and professional conduct; abide by federal regulations including the Privacy Act of 1974 and HIPAA Act of 1996, • Minimum one (1) year of experience within the last two (2) years prior to contract execution, • Experience administering all types of anesthesia as utilized in the performance of surgical anesthesia, including but not limited to general endotracheal, subarachnoid, and epidural blocks, • At least 3 months of recent post-graduate experience within the last 12 months providing anesthesia care to complex, high-acuity patients with critical illness and/or traumatic injuries, • At least 12 months of post-graduate experience within the last 24 months providing anesthesia care for pediatric patients, • Experience placing central venous catheters and arterial lines is required, • Experience providing anesthesia care to high-acuity patients with critical illnesses and traumatic injuries, • Experience with regional anesthetic techniques preferred, • High-risk obstetrical anesthesia experience preferred, • Basic computer skills, • Minimum of a Master's Degree in Nursing or Anesthesia Services, or Doctorate of Nursing Practice, • Graduate of an approved nurse anesthesia program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs (CAANEP) or its predecessors Licenses & Certifications • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Texas; must maintain RN licensure; maintain APRN license if applicable, • Current certification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) or the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA), • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross, • Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification from the AHA or American Red Cross, • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the AHA or American Red Cross, • People First, Always: Our core belief is simple, people come first.
