Credentialed Teacher – Personalized Learning / Independent Study\n Heritage Peak Charter School | Vacaville Learning Center – Region 1 \n Some teachers are at their best when they finally have the space to really know their students. \n At Heritage Peak Charter School, teaching looks different. \n Our students do not all learn in the same place, at the same pace, or in the same way. That means our teachers get to do what great teachers have always wanted to do: know students deeply, figure out what they need, build meaningful relationships with families, and create a path that helps each learner grow. \n We are looking for an exceptional California-credentialed teacher who combines strong instruction with curiosity, warmth, organization, flexibility, and an unwavering belief in students. \n This is not simply a traditional classroom teaching job moved online. It is personalized learning. \n You will serve as teacher, advisor, instructional designer, progress monitor, problem solver, and trusted partner to students and families. You will have the autonomy to respond to individual needs while being surrounded by a collaborative team that believes excellent teaching is both deeply human and highly skilled. \n Pacific Charter Institute and its schools serve more than 3,400 students across 16 Northern California counties through tuition-free personalized learning options. Our mission is to help students take charge of their education by connecting their individual needs and interests to rigorous learning experiences that develop responsible citizens, critical problem solvers, and lifelong learners. WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT\n You get to know your students. \n Rather than teaching to the middle of a crowded room, you will work closely with individual students and small groups, using assessment, observation, conversation, and student work to determine what each learner needs next. \n You can actually personalize learning. \n You will help develop learning goals and instructional plans that respond to student strengths, needs, interests, progress, and California standards. \n Families are genuine partners. \n Parents and guardians play an important role in their students’ education. You will coach, communicate, problem-solve, celebrate growth, and provide families with tools and resources to support learning. \n Relationships matter here. \n We want teachers who can build trust, communicate clearly, notice when something is not working, and help students discover that they are capable of more than they may have believed. \n You will have both independence and a team. \n This role requires initiative and excellent professional judgment, but you are not working alone. Our teachers collaborate with colleagues, specialists, school leaders, families, and community partners. \n You will help build something. \n At Heritage Peak, Made to Soar is more than a tagline. We want students to leave us with greater confidence, ownership, skill, and belief in what is possible for them. We are looking for a teacher who wants to help shape that culture, not simply occupy a position in it. WHAT YOU’LL DO\n As a Personalized Learning Teacher, you will: \n\n • Build meaningful, supportive relationships with students and families.\n, • Design learning experiences within an Independent Study/Homeschool model.\n, • Provide engaging individual and small-group instruction.\n, • Use assessments, student work, performance data, and professional judgment to identify strengths, needs, and next steps.\n, • Develop and implement individualized learning goals aligned with California standards and approved curriculum.\n, • Monitor student growth and adjust instruction when students need intervention, additional challenge, or a different approach.\n, • Help students become increasingly independent, motivated, reflective learners.\n, • Communicate consistently with parents/guardians about progress, goals, concerns, and successes.\n, • Equip families with strategies and resources that help them reinforce learning.\n, • Maintain accurate student records, grades, attendance, work samples, master agreements, and other required documentation.\n, • Use technology thoughtfully to strengthen instruction, communication, engagement, and student access.\n, • Collaborate with colleagues and specialists to improve student achievement and family engagement.\n, • Participate actively in professional learning and contribute to a strong school culture.\n, • Maintain a safe, welcoming, respectful learning environment.\n, • Fulfill mandated-reporting responsibilities and other professional responsibilities required of California educators.\nTHE TEACHER WE’RE HOPING TO FIND\n Credentials matter. Who you are with students matters just as much. \n Our strongest candidate is someone who believes students deserve to be known as individuals rather than managed as a group; is an excellent teacher and an excellent listener; can look at a struggling student and think, “What haven’t we tried yet?”; holds high expectations without losing warmth, patience, humor, or humanity; understands that personalization means more than assigning different worksheets; builds productive, respectful partnerships with families; and uses data as information, not as a substitute for knowing a child. \n You are comfortable trying something, reflecting on the result, and changing course. You communicate early, clearly, and professionally. You are highly organized and dependable about deadlines and documentation. You work well independently without becoming isolated from the team. \n You contribute ideas, ask good questions, share expertise, and welcome feedback. You see technology as a tool for better learning rather than the point of learning. And you bring optimism, judgment, adaptability, and follow-through to a dynamic school environment. \n You do not need to arrive knowing every platform, process, or feature of personalized learning. We can teach systems. \n We are much more interested in finding an outstanding educator who is reflective, coachable, relational, intellectually curious, and genuinely excited about helping students succeed. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\n Candidates must possess and maintain a valid California Teaching Credential appropriate to the level of instruction and English Learner authorization. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of California standards, standards-based curriculum, assessment, child development, instructional planning, and strategies for meeting individual student needs. \n Candidates must be comfortable using educational technology, learning management systems, student information systems, digital communication tools, online resources, and common productivity software; be willing and able to learn new technologies; have reliable transportation and the ability to travel locally and to surrounding areas as required; and complete required school-employee certifications and mandatory trainings. ESPECIALLY HELPFUL EXPERIENCE\n Experience with independent study, homeschool, hybrid, virtual, or personalized learning; intervention or differentiated instruction; small-group instruction; special populations or inclusive practices; and family engagement is especially welcome. \n Experience with PowerSchool/PowerTeacher, Google Classroom, Microsoft 365, Zoom or Microsoft Teams, ParentSquare, assistive technology, or accessibility tools is also helpful. \n Prior experience with these particular platforms is helpful, but it is not the defining measure of a great candidate. WHY HERITAGE PEAK?\n Because some students flourish when school becomes more personal. \n And some teachers do, too. \n At our Vacaville Learning Center, you will join a team that values relationships, professional judgment, collaboration, creativity, and follow-through. We believe high expectations and genuine care belong together. We want adults who see strengths before deficits, solve problems with students and families, and understand that belonging is not separate from achievement. \n If you have ever wished you had more opportunity to understand the learner in front of you, work closely with families, adapt instruction thoughtfully, and help students build ownership of their education, you may find something special here. \n We are not looking for someone who can simply keep a caseload moving. \n We are looking for a teacher students remember. \n A teacher families trust. \n A colleague others want on their team. \n An educator who brings both heart and craft to the work and who believes personalized learning should still mean excellent teaching. \n If that sounds like you, we hope you’ll apply.
