Position Summary: The Volunteer & Engagement Coordinator, reporting directly to the Executive Director, is responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing Dover Health Hospice’s volunteer program while leading patient life enrichment and community engagement activities. This role ensures the hospice maintains a meaningful and compliant volunteer program in accordance with CMS Hospice Conditions of Participation while creating opportunities for companionship, comfort, and enrichment for hospice patients and their families. The coordinator works closely with the interdisciplinary team to connect volunteers with patients, organize engagement activities, build relationships with community partners, and develop programs that enhance quality of life for those receiving hospice services while strengthening Dover Health’s connection to the communities it serves. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Develop, coordinate, and oversee the hospice volunteer program in accordance with CMS Hospice Conditions of Participation., • Recruit, screen, onboard, and train hospice volunteers., • Maintain volunteer records including background checks, training documentation, competencies, and volunteer service hours., • Assign volunteers to support patients, families, and hospice staff based on program and patient needs., • Coordinate volunteer schedules and patient assignments., • Foster strong volunteer engagement through communication, recognition programs, and appreciation events., • Provide ongoing support, education, and supervision to volunteers., • Track volunteer utilization to ensure regulatory compliance with hospice volunteer requirements., • Develop and coordinate life enrichment activities that enhance the emotional and social well-being of hospice patients., • Coordinate companionship visits, music visits, crafts, holiday celebrations, and other engagement opportunities., • Work with the interdisciplinary team to identify patients who would benefit from volunteer companionship or enrichment activities., • Organize small group or individual activities for patients within assisted living communities and private homes when appropriate., • Coordinate special events, seasonal celebrations, and remembrance activities for patients and families., • Facilitate community involvement that enhances patient engagement and quality of life., • Build relationships with local schools, churches, civic organizations, and community groups to support volunteer recruitment and enrichment programming., • Coordinate community partnerships that bring additional engagement opportunities to patients., • Represent Dover Health Hospice at volunteer fairs and community events when appropriate., • Maintain accurate documentation related to volunteer participation, training, and program activities., • Assist in maintaining policies and procedures related to volunteer services., • Support hospice leadership with regulatory survey readiness related to volunteer program requirements., • Ensure volunteers follow agency policies, patient confidentiality requirements, and hospice care standards., • Participate in hospice team meetings and interdisciplinary discussions when appropriate., • Assist with special events such as memorial services or community education programs. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. • High School Diploma or equivalent required., • Previous experience coordinating volunteers, activities, or community programs preferred., • Experience working in healthcare, senior living, hospice, or community organizations is preferred but not required., • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation., • Ability to travel locally to patient locations, community events, and partner organizations., • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills., • Ability to organize events, activities, and volunteer schedules., • Strong communication and coordination skills., • Compassion and sensitivity when working with patients and families facing serious illness., • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously., • Proficiency with basic computer systems and documentation tools.
