We primarily develop new technologies for hacking and understanding biological systems. The New York Genome Center (NYGC) is seeking exceptional, highly motivated Genomic AI Fellows to join a high-impact initiative transforming the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of human disease through predictive genomic AI. This program aims to bridge the gap between large-scale genomic data and transformative clinical impact. The fellowship will provide early-career scientists with the resources and environment to develop next-generation Foundation Models (FMs) for the human genome. While DNA sequencing is now a clinical staple, the noncoding "dark matter" of the genome remains largely undeciphered. AI will play a key role in unlocking the sequence-to-function code. Midtown Community Justice Center offers a diversion program that provides people who are arrested an off-ramp from criminal prosecution: Project Reset. The Center for Justice Innovation operates Project Reset, New York City's pre-arraignment diversion program, in all five boroughs and the Midtown Community Justice Center operates the program in Manhattan. In collaboration with the District Attorney’s Offices, the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, the defense bar and the New York Police Department, Project Reset seeks to create a proportionate response to low-level crime outside of the traditional criminal justice process. Project Reset-eligible community members receive the option to participate in a one session program in advance of their court date. Upon completion of the session, the District Attorney’s Office will decline to prosecute the case. The Midtown Community Justice Center also offers Rapid Reset, which offers the same diversion opportunity to Project Reset-eligible people who show up to court. Midtown Community Justice Center is seeking a Project Reset Social Worker. Reporting to the Project Reset Program Coordinator, the Social Worker will facilitate psychoeducational group-based curricula and provide individual counseling and case management to Project Reset and Rapid Reset participants. This will include coordinating closely with the Manhattan Felony Alternative to Incarceration (ATI) Court to identify and assess potential participants. The ATI Court, which is led by Administrative Judge Ellen Biben, seeks to forge a new response to individuals charged with felonies by linking them to community-based social services. The Court is the first of its kind, providing an innovative model for other jurisdictions seeking to develop and implement meaningful post-conviction sentencing options for individuals facing felony charges. Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Senior Social Worker, Jail Diversion will lead a team that conducts independent clinical assessments and drafts treatment recommendations for defendants being held in pretrial detention. The Senior Social Worker will supervise a team of social workers and counselors and oversee the referral, assessment, and treatment planning process—ensuring adherence to a strict timeline and that the process is completed as quickly as possible. They will also regularly conduct assessments and prepare treatment plans, including for more complex and demanding cases. Additionally, in coordination with the Clinical Director, the Senior Social Worker will design and refine workflows for the team, and oversee data entry. The goal is to provide information that will enable defense attorneys, prosecutors, and judges to resolve cases as quickly as possible, significantly reducing the time people spend in pretrial detention. An essential and dynamic feature of the Senior Social Worker’s role will be close collaboration with key external stakeholders. They will work regularly with New York City’s public defense organizations and other defense attorneys, prosecutors from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor, staff at the Department of Correction and Correctional Health Services, the judge and court staff from New York County Supreme Court who oversee the Felony ATI Court, and an array of community-based alternative to incarceration and community-based providers. Court-based clinical work is an exciting, unique and demanding area of practice, and the Social Worker role involves navigating and constructively engaging with differing and, at times, competing stakeholder perspectives. The ATI Court, which is led by Administrative Judge Ellen Biben, seeks to forge a new response to individuals charged with felonies by linking them to community-based social services. The Court is the first of its kind, providing an innovative model for other jurisdictions seeking to develop and implement meaningful post-conviction sentencing options for individuals facing felony charges. Reporting to the Senior Social Worker, Jail Diversion, the Counselor will be responsible for conducting independent clinical assessments and drafting treatment recommendations for defendants being held in pretrial detention. The Counselor will conduct these assessments and complete these treatment plans according to a strict timeline, ensuring that the process is completed as quickly as possible. The goal is to provide information that will enable defense attorneys, prosecutors, and judges to resolve cases as quickly as possible, significantly reducing the time people spend in pretrial detention. An essential and dynamic feature of the Counselor’s role will be close collaboration with key external stakeholders. Reporting to the Senior Social Worker of Jail Diversion, the Social Worker, will be responsible for conducting independent clinical assessments and drafting treatment recommendations for defendants being held in pretrial detention. The Social Worker will conduct these assessments and complete these treatment plans according to a strict timeline, ensuring that the process is completed as quickly as possible. The goal is to provide information that will enable defense attorneys, prosecutors, and judges to resolve cases as quickly as possible, significantly reducing the time people spend in pretrial detention. An essential and dynamic feature of the Social Worker’s role will be close collaboration with key external stakeholders. Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Senior Counselor, Jail Diversion will lead a team that conducts independent clinical assessments and drafts treatment recommendations for defendants being held in pretrial detention. The Senior Counselor will supervise a team of counselors and oversee the referral, assessment, and treatment planning process—ensuring adherence to a strict timeline and that the process is completed as quickly as possible. They will also regularly conduct assessments and prepare treatment plans, including for more complex and demanding cases. Additionally, in coordination with the Clinical Director, the Senior Counselor will design and refine workflows for the team, and oversee data entry. Job Description Reporting Relationships: Program Director reports to the Program Coordinator. What you will do: Under the general supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, Program Directors are expected to perform the following principal duties and responsibilities. · Exercise overall responsibility for the safe operation and effective results of all program operations at the facility · Provides continuance oversight of all facility sand program activities · Ensure shelter maintains its contractual compliance regarding program goals and objectives. · Meet all performance expectations established for the shelter by AAPCI and Department of Homeless Services and other governing entities · Maintain a healthy and safe environment for residents and staff while ensuring that residents move towards attainment of independent living, or an appropriate living status beyond AAPCI shelter · Operate the facility and programs within the approved limits established by the annual budget · Serve as the primary program liaison to DHS. Collaboratively work with the Director of Operations, Senior Program Leaders and Executive Management to deliver program outcomes · Work collaboratively with building management to maintain facility conditions, including ongoing monitoring of unit repairs and other requirements issued by DOHMH, DOB, FDNY, HPD, DHS, etc. · Work alongside the Human Resources Department in 1) Adhering to the HR Policies and Procedures established in the Employee Handbook 2) The selection process in filling vacant positions and 3) Receive guidance in handling employee’s performance problems. · Work alongside the Quality Assurance and Compliance Department in 1) Assuring the shelter remains in compliance with City and State regulations 2) The maintenance of the facility is at a level of excellence that will surpass the requirements of all inspections and 3) Internal trainings/workshops to support professional development · Maintain the critical binder and ensure all the necessary documents (inspections, fire drills, site schedule, security licenses) are up to date and audit-ready at all times · Work collaboratively with food vendors to ensure retrieval of menus and timely deliveries. · Be responsible for maintaining effective communication and interaction with staff in all areas of the shelter while ensuring the staff receives the necessary training and professional development that will equip them to be successful in their job descriptions · Foster a positive teamwork environment through mentoring, coaching, and providing feedback to staff based on performance · Assess program needs and identify potential funding streams to enhance services · Serve as liaison to local service providers and community leaders to ensure a good relationship with the community · Ensure shelter maintains its contractual compliance regarding program goals and objectives · Ensure prompt responsiveness to incidents, especially Priority 1 incidents. · Required to follow-up and submit reasonable accommodations and grievances received by shelter residents · Work collaboratively with food vendors to ensure menus and timely deliveries occur · Oversees administrative assistant who may be involved in daily department activities that implement the organization’s policies · Oversees the Administrative Assistant handle of the petty cash funds, required to provide approval for purchases · Review the petty cash reconciliation spreadsheet for accuracy and approved purchases for submission to Finance Team · Conduct operation and social service department meetings need to discuss program. improvements and achieve program goals issued by the funder, governing agencies, and AAPCI · Track, review, and complete payroll for employees assigned at the program location. · Reviews and submit weekly, biweekly, and monthly internal and external reports required to track facility activity, staffing needs, housing placements, veterans, etc. · Utilize demographic reports and other existing program data to evaluate shelter performance and implement short- and long-term plans to achieve goals · On-call 24/7 · While the Program Director may make suggestions/recommendations, at the discretion of the Executive Team, applicants are interviewed/selected for staff positions and/or transfers. · Tasks may be modified, expanded and assigned over time · Other duties as assigned by supervisor About you: Master’s Degree in relevant field with a minimum of at least 3-4 years successful experience in servicing to homeless individuals/families, mental health, substance abuse, or senior-level shelter administration or; o Bachelor Degree with at least 5-7+ years’ experience in servicing homeless individuals/families, mental health, substance abuse, or senior level shelter administration. At least at least 3-5 years of documented progressive managerial experience Other Requirements: · Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; · Strong verbal and written communication skills, with emphasis on face-to-face, empathetic communication with shelter residents; · Exceptional leadership skills in dealing with both staff and residents coupled with a personal commitment to serving the poor and disadvantaged; · Experience with mental health and substance use population, Preferred. · Experience in staff training and development · An understanding of funding and industry regulations and a track record of meeting compliance standards · Strong leadership, excellent organizational and communication skills · Ability to work on a strong team of professionals in a culturally diverse environment · License in social work or mental health counseling- Preferred.
