This is a compelling opportunity for a seasoned operational leader to step into a highly visible role and help shape the future of a complex, multi-entity organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. With a strong foundation and ambitious plans for continued growth, the organization is seeking a COO who can bring strategic vision, operational discipline, and a deep commitment to person-centered care. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Operating Officer will serve as a critical partner in driving organizational strategy, enhancing performance, and building the infrastructure needed to scale impact. The COO will oversee a broad portfolio of functions, lead and develop a high-performing executive team, and foster a culture rooted in accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities • Partner with the CEO and executive leadership team to develop and execute a strategic five-year plan, including annual operational planning and performance management processes., • Provide strong day-to-day leadership, fostering collaboration across programs and support functions., • Oversee internal program and support operations, including direct leadership of vice presidents across key functional areas:, • Program Operations, • Drive high-quality service delivery and improve key performance and satisfaction metrics, • Ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulatory requirements, • Identify and support high-need individuals and complex cases, • Implement innovative, best-practice service models, • Oversee enrollment, customer service, and learning & development functions, • Human Resources, • Build and promote a strong, coaching-oriented culture, • Oversee talent acquisition, retention, training, performance management, and employee relations, • Information Technology, • Evaluate and enhance technology infrastructure and systems to support organizational growth, • External Relations, • Maintain and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including members, providers, and government entities, • Support member engagement, advocacy, and brand development initiatives, • Lead quality assurance efforts, ensuring implementation of best practices and compliance with all applicable policies and regulations, • Perform additional duties as needed to support efficient organizational operations, • Maintain strict confidentiality, • Travel as needed; valid driver’s license or reliable access to transportation required Requirements • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Healthcare Administration or a related field, • 10+ years of senior leadership experience, including at least 5 years in an operational leadership role, • Strong knowledge of IDD services, Medicaid, and New York State healthcare systems and regulations, Knowledge of the OPWDD regulatory environment, • Proven ability to scale operations and drive organizational performance, • Strong financial acumen, strategic planning, and analytical capabilities, • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, • Proven track record of achieving results, including P&L management and balancing mission-driven programs with financial sustainability, • Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate trends and adapt organizational direction accordingly, • Experience building organizational and team capacity, including developing processes and high-performing teams, • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire, develop, and hold teams accountable, • Action-oriented approach with the ability to make decisions in dynamic environments, • Broad business knowledge across finance, HR, IT, and operations, • Passion for mission-driven work and a demonstrated commitment to serving individuals with IDD Salary Range • $250-275k JK Executive Strategies is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
