Job Description Position Summary: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the company is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the organization. This includes driving the financial planning of the company, managing risk, ensuring financial sustainability, and providing financial insights to guide decision-making. The CFO will also play a key role in optimizing revenue, cost management, and overseeing company investments, while ensuring compliance with financial regulations. As the CFO, you will be responsible for the primary day-to-day planning, implementing, managing and controlling of all financial-related activities. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, budgeting, forecasting, payroll, strategic planning, job costing, property management, deal analysis and negotiations, investor relationships and private and institutional financing. The CFO will utilize strategic planning, financial management skills, and leadership abilities to manage the company’s finances and drive business growth. The CFO will understand the nuances of a small entrepreneurial business. The position often wears multiple hats making adaptability and broad expertise essential. You may also will be called upon to temporarily perform tasks that are necessary for the advancement of company goals, that may not be described in this job description. Key responsibilities Leadership • Manage and mentor the finance team (which may be small or even a single person), including training, performance management, and career development. Sets financial policies, and may also oversee HR, payroll, or IT systems, • Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and board, providing data-driven insights to support key business decisions, such as expansion, investment, or new product launches, • Demonstrate the confidence and professionalism required to provide candid financial feedback to executive leadership and ownership, including when recommendations may be difficult or contrary to preferred outcomes, • Develop and implement data driven financial strategies aligned with business goals, including budgeting, forecasting, pricing strategy, expansion, assess risk and return and long-term financial planning., • Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and reporting processes., • Establish departmental budgets, track spending, and provide insights to department heads to control costs and improve efficiency. Aligns financial plans with business goals, and ensures resources are allocated efficiently across departments, • Improve the budgeting process through education of managers on financial issues impacting their budgets, • Financial reporting – set operating budget, monthly reporting of P&L, budget vs. actual results, balance sheet, and cash forecasting., • Ensure credibility of Finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts, • Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets and consolidation and reporting to the Company., • Forecast financial performance and develop strategies for growth, profitability, and cost management., • Analyze financial data to identify trends, financial risk and advise on business strategies and opportunities., • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance, • Provide regular financial reports to the CEO, including revenue forecasts, profit margins, and financial projections., • Provide leadership in the development for the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives, • Implement internal controls, financial policies, and procedures to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure regulatory compliance, • Identifies opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality, streamlines financial processes, and implements best practices to improve profitability., • Secure financing with CEO, managing relationships with banks and investors, and preparing financial packages for fundraising, loans, or investment rounds., • Communicate financial performance to investors, lenders, and other stakeholders, maintaining transparency and confidence, • Monitor and optimize cash flow to ensure the company has sufficient liquidity to meet obligations, manage working capital, and support growth.
