What you'll do • You plan your day, set priorities, and work with your team to keep freight moving safely and on time. Pay: • $22.00/hr. 1st position • Start time: 4am, • Start time: 7:00 PM, • Thursday to Monday Important information • NYC delivery qualified drivers needed (delivering into Brooklyn, NY 2x per day), • 50% live unloads at dock level, 50% street unloads with lift gate trailers, • Weekend coverage required, • On time delivery to dedicated accounts., • Pre-trip/Post-trip inspection (after/ after each load)., • Maintaining daily E-Log., • Operate Company owned tractor-trailer trucks to facilitate transportation of freight., • Perform required after-, during-, and after-operation “user maintenance” and provide required reports., • Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations., • Maintain all required certifications required by DOT, OSHA and company safety programs., • Maintain all property entrusted to the driver in excellent condition and protect it., • Report all accidents immediately., • Promptly report any delays to respective Dispatcher or Manager., • Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations., • Class A CDL., • Safe driving record (MVR, CSA, and previous employment)., • Ability to pass DOT pre-employment drug screening and meet DOT medical requirements., • Good stable work record., • Current DOT physical., • 1 year of Class-A driving experience or equivalent military experience., • Be at least 23 years of age., • Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving., • Ability to safely drive various vehicles., • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, and the general public., • Ability to communicate effectively., • Ability to work independently., • Ability to operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times, • Ability to occasionally perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions., • Extended Periods of Sitting: Drivers are required to sit for long durations while operating vehicles., • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and feet to operate vehicles, adjust controls, and manage equipment., • Heavy Lifting: Occasional lifting, carrying, and securing of cargo, which may exceed 50 pounds., • Navigation and Attention: Continuous focus on driving and navigation, requiring high levels of concentration and situational awareness., • Variable Work Hours: Potential for irregular hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and overnight trips., • Exposure to Weather: Work involves exposure to various weather conditions during loading and unloading operations., • Climbing and Balancing: Climbing into and out of the truck cab and trailer, as well as balancing to secure cargo. About US 1 Shorthaul's Yard Jockey (Spotter) Position: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Correctly move trailers in and out of dock with yard goats, • Responsible for drop and hook, • Accurately perform yard audits at end of shift, • Proper pre- and post-trip inspections and submitting reports indicating truck conditions, • Adhere to guidelines of safety-sensitive functions pertaining to job responsibilities within yard, • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management, • Driving would be local to the site location and could entail yard or shorthaul local shuttle driving. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: • Possess a team-player attitude, • Ability to read, understand, and demonstrate safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals, • Ability to request and complete trailer moves in the Yard Management System (YMS), • Attention to detail, • Understanding and communicating in the English language is a requirement EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, REQUIREMENTS: • Minimum 18 months over-the-road, verifiable experience in the past 5 years, of which 12 months must be within the past 3 years that is similar experience and subjected to the FMCSA's drug testing rules of 49 CFR Part 40, • May substitute local for over-the-road experience, • Clearinghouse query consent, • PSP below 90, • Experience backing 48' to 53' trailers including in tight spaces and to dock doors, • No preventable DOT accidents within the past 3 years, • No application falsifications, application must include verifiable10-year employment history with no gaps in employment, • This position must pass pre-hire background and drug test, • No drug related charges, past failed drug screens, past refused drug screens, and no SAP programs, • No felony convictions within the past 7 years, • Does require a CDL A. Local driver position that could entail yard driving.
