Job Description LOD Staffing has openings for Electrical Testing Technician - Transformers Location: San Antonio TX 78219 Schedule: Full-Time | 7am – 4pm Compensation: $18/hr Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Electrical Testing Technician to perform incoming, in-process, and final electrical testing on distribution and power transformers. This position plays a critical role in ensuring product quality, reliability, and safety in compliance with IEEE and ANSI standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with electrical testing, a strong understanding of safety practices, and the ability to work in demanding outdoor environments. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Perform electrical tests on transformers, including:, • Insulation Resistance, • Winding Resistance, • Turns Ratio, • No-Load Loss, • Full-Load Loss, • Impedance, • Polarity, • Interpret and analyze test data to determine transformer status and recommend corrective actions., • Maintain, calibrate, and oversee testing equipment, coordinating with vendors as needed., • Perform routine preventive maintenance on all test instruments., • Collect oil samples for Diagnostic Gas Analysis (DGA) and full oil screen testing., • Strictly adhere to company safety standards and PPE requirements., • Potential related duties may include:, • Rewinding or remanufacturing transformer coils., • Failure analysis and electrical system diagnostics., • On-site field service calls, oil sampling, or minor repairs. Minimum Qualifications • Proven experience in electrical testing, preferably in transformer or high-voltage environments., • Working knowledge of IEEE and ANSI testing standards and related electrical safety codes., • Strong analytical ability to interpret technical data accurately., • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision., • Good communication skills in English., • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform physical labor daily., • Stable work history in an industrial or technical setting – no job hoppers (multiple jobs of 1 year or less)., • Must possess and maintain steel-toed boots (not furnished)., • Willingness to work in all weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications • Prior experience with transformer manufacturing or repair., • Familiarity with high-voltage testing equipment and diagnostic tools., • Hands-on background in field service, electrical maintenance, or construction., • Commitment to long-term employment with a strong sense of accountability and teamwork. Work Environment This is a hands-on, physically demanding position. Work is primarily conducted outdoors in an industrial environment. Conditions will vary by season and include: • Exposure to heat, cold, rain, dust, and humidity., • Work areas may be dirty or dusty (caliche, oil, debris)., • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and carry tools/equipment as needed., • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and kneel throughout the workday., • Comfortable working in outdoor environments exposed to heat, cold, rain, humidity, dust, and noise., • Must be able to tolerate dirty and physically demanding work (caliche dust, oil residue, etc.)., • Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail while performing technical tasks and data recording., • Strong problem-solving mindset with ability to analyze data accurately and calmly under pressure., • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions, prioritize multiple tasks, and work safely under supervision or independently., • Ability to work overtime or irregular hours as required by production or testing schedules.
