USA:CA:Anaheim | Shop & Field Service Support | Full-Time The Lead Manual Machinist will oversee day-to-day machining operations while performing advanced manual machining work. This role is responsible for interpreting complex drawings, planning machining sequences, ensuring quality output, and guiding machinists and shop personnel as needed. The Lead Manual Machinist will set up and operate manual equipment, verify precision measurements, troubleshoot machining issues, and ensure safe, efficient workflow throughout the shop. This position also performs routine machine maintenance and minor repairs to keep equipment in optimal condition. Machining & Technical Work • Review samples, drawings, and instructions to determine job specifications and machining requirements, • Plan machining sequences and allocate work to ensure timely completion of jobs, • Take precise measurements and mark materials for cutting, shaping, or machining, • Select appropriate machines (e.g., manual lathes, mills, grinders) and set up equipment for each job, • Determine batch sizes, machine speeds, feeds, and cutting parameters, • Monitor machines during operation, adjusting feeds, speeds, and tooling as needed, • Inspect finished parts to ensure accuracy and consistency with specifications, • Document approved and defective units, maintaining accurate production records, • Serve as the primary point of contact for machining questions and technical guidance, • Support and mentor junior machinists and shop personnel, • Ensure safe work practices and proper machine operation across the team, • Assist with scheduling, prioritizing work orders, and maintaining shop organization, • Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other departments regarding job status and requirements, • Proven experience as a manual machinist; lead or senior-level experience required., • Skilled in operating and/or programming manual, semi-automated, or automated machines, line boring (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.), • Ability to use precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges, • Strong understanding of metal properties and machining behavior, • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals, • Strong math and analytical skills, • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs.), • Acceptable driving record per company guidelines, • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship strongly preferred, • Physical Demand: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, • Pay: $40-$55 DOE, • Working Conditions: Shop environment, • Training/Certifications: Not required, • Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM 3:30 PM; Overtime on occasion will be required, • Travel: None DXP offers a comprehensive benefits package for full-time regular employees, normally working a minimum of 30 hours per week, including: medical, dental, vision, flexible spending account, paid holidays, life and disability insurance, and additional supplemental benefits.
