This position provides an opportunity for an experienced HVAC technician with at least seven (7) years' relevant experience to work with a dedicated facilities group, deepen his/her technical skills, and help ensure that Uncommon provides well-maintained, comfortable, and safe educational facilities for our students and staff. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Facilities Management Team, the HVAC Service Technician will perform all technical work necessary to inspect, maintain, repair, and modify HVAC system in our buildings. With expertise in HVAC – and to a lesser extent in construction and plumbing – in multi-family, schools, and commercial buildings, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting minor HVAC projects and managing larger ones and ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. The HVAC Service Tech will partner with senior Facilities team members and outside consultants on the planning, coordination, and supervision of mechanical construction and repair activities implemented by outside vendors, will ensure project timelines are met and ensure quality control standards are followed, mentor junior staff, and handle all HVAC-related communication with stakeholders. This leader will wear many different hats and have to be able to work quickly to solve problems. We need an independent thinker and someone that can maintain a great culture for our Ambassadors, as well as the client we serve. Specific daily responsibilities of the Operations Supervisor may include: • Coordinate recruitment and selection of candidates. Onboarding and training of all new Ambassadors. Create a culture that would make everyone want to join your team!, • Continual adjustments to the deployment of resources to match changing needs. This includes resources of the "human kind." Basically, redeploy according to daily needs., • Continual problem identification and solving to improve the quality of the program. Problem solving is a very big part of what we do. (We need an innovator to lead our team.), • Purchasing and inventory of supplies and equipment., • Reporting outcomes through a variety of reporting channels (This means spreadsheets, Kronos, Timekeeping, Budgets...you get the idea.), • YOU LIKE TO HAVE FUN AND MAKE PEOPLE SMILE! WE ARE CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERTS that engage on a very high level with the general public, so we need great personalities to lead our teams. A good sense of humor never hurts!, • You have solid work history and longevity of at least 5 years with previous employers, • You have supervised teams in the past., • You enjoy working outside in all weather. Requirements Professionalism: Must maintain a positive, professional environment in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures and overall Block by Block standards of expected professionalism. Physical Abilities: Must have the physical capacity to walk continuously during an eight hour shift, with normal breaks (two fifteen minutes, and one thirty minute meal break). Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions with provided inclement weather gear. Communication: Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.
