Job DescriptionJob Title: Circular Seam Fit Up WelderJob Description The Circular Seam Fit Up Welder prepares, aligns, and welds circular seams on metal components, ensuring every weld meets rigorous quality and safety standards. This role involves setting up and operating manual and automated welding and cutting equipment, performing fit-up and finishing welds, and conducting thorough quality inspections. The welder follows detailed production work instructions and welding process specifications, supports continuous process improvements, and maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work environment in a heavy fabrication setting. Responsibilities • Prepare, align, and weld circular seams on metal components in accordance with production work instructions and welding process specifications., • Set up manual welding, automated welding, and flame/plasma cutting equipment by adjusting operating parameters for optimal performance., • Utilize manual and automated welding equipment and tooling to tack weld and finish weld components using GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, and SAW processes., • Prepare welding joints and repair surface and weld imperfections using flame/plasma cutting equipment and grinding tools., • Perform product quality inspections on welded components and make corrections as required to meet quality and safety standards., • Operate material handling equipment, including overhead cranes and rigging, to fit up and relocate tower section components safely., • Replenish welding equipment consumables such as wire, tips, nozzles, and feed rollers to ensure continuous production., • Perform daily maintenance inspections on welding and cutting equipment and correct minor issues to maintain equipment reliability., • Coordinate with team leaders and other production employees to prioritize products and manage workflow efficiently., • Troubleshoot welding and cutting equipment and make necessary adjustments to ensure consistent quality at advanced levels., • Collaborate with supervisors to implement process improvements and optimize production efficiency at advanced levels., • Conduct thorough quality inspections and ensure compliance with advanced quality standards at Level 3 and above., • Oversee complex seam welding operations, ensuring precision and adherence to high-quality standards at Level 4., • Coordinate with departments such as Quality Assurance and Maintenance to support production goals at Level 4., • Lead safety initiatives, ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols, and conduct safety briefings at Level 4., • Maintain accurate records of production metrics, machine maintenance activities, and material inventory at Level 4., • Follow all safety procedures, maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment, and perform routine housekeeping tasks.Essential Skills, • Ability to perform basic fit-up and welding tasks for circular seams under direct supervision., • Ability to perform more complex circular seam welds, including multi-angle positions and fillet welds., • Ability to perform advanced circular seam welding, including high-precision and multi-layer welds., • Proficiency in setting up manual welding, automated welding, and flame/plasma cutting equipment by adjusting parameters., • Hands-on experience utilizing manual and automated welding equipment and tooling to tack weld and finish weld components via GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, and SAW processes., • Skill in preparing welding joints and repairing surface and weld imperfections using flame/plasma cutting equipment and grinding., • Minimum of 2 years of welding experience in a heavy fabrication industry, or a combination of welding courses and welding work experience through an accredited technical school or apprentice program., • 2 years of work experience with zero safety violations for Level 2 performance., • Ability to consistently meet daily requirements of 90% efficiency to standard hours on a minimum of one skill for Level 2., • Ability to consistently meet daily requirements of 90% efficiency to standard on two Level 2 skills and one or more Level 1 skills for Level 3., • Ability to read and interpret production drawings and technical work instructions accurately., • Ability to speak, read, and understand English to follow instructions and communicate with the team., • High school diploma or GED., • Ability to pass a pre-employment welding skills assessment., • Ability to pass pre-employment Reading, Math, and Locating Information assessments.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Certificate in welding from an accredited technical school is preferred., • Experience working in heavy fabrication environments with loud machinery and complex material handling operations., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds., • Demonstrated focus on safety, including working with zero safety violations and adherence to safety protocols., • Ability to collaborate effectively with team leaders, supervisors, and cross-functional departments such as Quality Assurance and Maintenance., • Willingness to participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support optimization of production processes.Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment is a heavily industrial production floor with loud machine noise, active fabrication operations, and exposure to cutting torches and grinding sparks. You work safely around toxic or corrosive chemicals and are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for the duration of each task, which may include a respirator or fresh air supply hood. The role involves standing and walking for periods of up to 3 hours, as well as stooping, kneeling, and bending for prolonged periods. Work may occur above ground and on uneven surfaces, requiring good balance and awareness of surroundings. The environment is structured around strict safety protocols and industrial best practices. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pueblo, CO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
