Job DescriptionJob Title: Mechanical Pump Assembler Job Description This role focuses on assembling customer-specific pump systems in a small, clean manufacturing environment. You will work from detailed prints and schematics, using hand and power tools to build pumps that vary by customer requirement. The position is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and contributing to high-quality, time-proven product lines. Responsibilities • Assemble customer-specific pumps according to detailed blueprints, schematics, and work instructions., • Work from a set of prints to interpret dimensions, layouts, and assembly requirements accurately., • Use hand and power tools, including tape measures, to cut, fit, and assemble components., • Handle and assemble PVC, stainless steel, and other materials as needed for pump construction., • Apply basic plumbing principles when working with pipes, fittings, and related components., • Perform plastic fabrication tasks, including working with heat and understanding heat penetration for plastic components., • Inspect parts and assemblies for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications throughout the build process., • Troubleshoot and correct assembly issues, asking questions and collaborating with team members when needed., • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area in a small manufacturing shop environment., • Meet production deadlines while maintaining high standards of workmanship and attention to detail., • Follow all shop procedures, safety guidelines, and quality standards consistently., • Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers to clarify requirements and ensure smooth workflow., • Demonstrate self-sufficiency in daily tasks while seeking guidance when necessary to continue learning and improving.Essential Skills, • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, prints, and schematics accurately., • Proficiency using hand and power tools, including tape measures, in a production or construction environment., • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on assembly or fabrication experience., • Prior plumbing experience working with PVC or stainless pipes., • Experience with basic assembly processes in a manufacturing, construction, or similar setting., • Ability to work independently, stay self-motivated, and take initiative while asking questions when needed., • Comfort working in a deadline-oriented environment while maintaining quality and accuracy., • Solid math and measurement skills for precise cutting, fitting, and assembly.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Approximately 5 years of relevant working experience is beneficial, but candidates with strong mechanical backgrounds and the ability to learn quickly are encouraged to apply., • Background in plastic fabrication, including understanding heat penetration for plastics, is a plus., • Previous carpentry or woodworking experience, especially from field or shop environments, is highly desirable., • Experience with plumbing systems, including PVC and stainless steel piping, is advantageous., • Metal welding experience is preferred but not required., • Experience in a small manufacturing company or similar shop environment is beneficial., • Demonstrated ability to grow, learn new skills, and adapt to new technologies and product lines., • Strong soft skills, including communication, problem-solving, and willingness to ask questions to improve performance.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a clean, small manufacturing organization with approximately 18 team members, creating a close-knit, collaborative shop environment. The facility includes a heated warehouse, ensuring a comfortable workspace throughout the year. The position follows a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:45 PM, supporting a predictable routine and work-life balance. You will work in a deadline-oriented setting that uses newer technology while producing time-tested product lines. The work involves regular use of hand and power tools, working at individual stations, and handling materials such as plastics, PVC, stainless steel, and other components. Supervision is non-micromanaging, so you are expected to be self-sufficient, disciplined, and proactive while collaborating with others and asking questions when needed. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Rochester, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
