Job Description Job Title: Safety Manager / Safety Coordinator Job Description The Safety Manager / Safety Coordinator oversees and continuously improves the safety culture within a fast-paced precast concrete manufacturing environment. This role develops, implements, and enforces safety programs while serving as a trusted resource for employees and supervisors on workplace safety, regulatory compliance, training, and employee relations matters. The position is highly hands-on, requiring significant time on the production floor to coach employees, conduct investigations, administer safety programs, and partner closely with operations leadership to maintain a safe and productive workplace. Responsibilities • Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive safety programs across a precast concrete manufacturing facility., • Serve as a primary resource for employees, supervisors, and leadership on workplace safety, compliance, and health and safety requirements., • Spend significant time on the production floor to observe work practices, identify hazards, and promote safe behaviors., • Conduct safety investigations related to incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, and follow up with corrective actions., • Administer and manage safety programs, including training, audits, inspections, and compliance initiatives., • Partner with operations, production, and leadership teams to maintain a safe, efficient, and productive work environment., • Lead and facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for hourly employees and supervisors., • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure adherence to OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations and internal policies., • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and other safety-related documentation., • Monitor and improve safety performance metrics, identifying trends and recommending process improvements., • Provide coaching and guidance to employees on safe work practices, personal protective equipment, and hazard recognition., • Support workers’ compensation management and employee relations investigations as they relate to safety and workplace incidents., • Maintain accurate records of training, audits, investigations, and compliance activities using Microsoft Office and other tools., • Collaborate with plant leadership to drive continuous improvement in safety culture, employee engagement, and operational excellence., • Communicate safety expectations clearly and effectively to employees at all levels, including hourly staff, supervisors, and management. Essential Skills • 3+ years of safety experience in manufacturing, construction, precast concrete, industrial, or heavy industrial environments., • Strong knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations and their application in industrial and construction settings., • Proven experience conducting safety investigations, audits, and training programs., • Experience developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and structured safety programs., • Ability to communicate effectively with hourly employees, supervisors, and leadership in a clear and approachable manner., • Strong documentation and organizational skills to manage records, reports, and compliance documentation., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for reporting, tracking, and presentation of safety data., • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred to effectively support a diverse workforce., • Hands-on safety management approach, comfortable spending significant time on the production floor and in the yard., • Demonstrated ability to partner with operations leadership to maintain a safe and productive workplace., • 2–3 years of safety experience in construction, concrete, or industrial environments, including compliance and audit responsibilities., • Experience in precast concrete, construction materials manufacturing, or heavy industrial operations., • OSHA 30 Certification., • CHST, ASP, CSP, or related professional safety certification preferred., • Experience with workers’ compensation management and employee relations investigations., • Experience in health and safety, safety management, construction safety, and safety audits., • Familiarity with OSHA 500 and OSHA safety regulations., • Ability to deliver safety training and coaching in both English and Spanish., • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and influence safety behaviors across all levels of the organization.Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Bakersfield, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
