Job Description Position Summary The Dental Assistant provides assistance to dentists/hygienists in the general treatment of patients in both routine and emergency procedures in areas of diagnostic, preventive, restorative, periodontal, endodontic, pedodontics, orthodontic, oral surgery, and prosthodontic dental care. Nevada Health Centers is an employer of choice and offers comprehensive benefits, including but not limited to: • Company sponsored PPO medical plan and buy-up option, vision, and dental plans, • 403(b) retirement plan with employer match, • Generous time-off policy, and ten (10) paid holidays plus one (1) float holiday, • Company paid life/AD&D and long-term disability policiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities, • Prepare patients and treatment rooms for examination and treatment, • Take patient medical history and chief complaint information, • Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization, • Observes all infection control policies, • Assist dentists using four-handed dental assistant techniques in operative, endodontic, oral surgery, orthodontic, pedodontics, prosthodontic and periodontal procedures by performing oral evacuation, fabricating temporary crowns, custom trays, taking impressions, mixing cements, and assisting in the application of light cured material, • Assist cementing temporary crowns, removing excess cement, performing coronal polishing, removing sutures, applying temporary restorations, and applying topical fluoride treatments, sealants as directed by the dentist, • Shoots simple x-rays, • Complete and maintain patient documentation, files, records and other information, • Provides patient oral health education and oral hygiene education; provide emotional support and compassion to patient needs, • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested, • Works closely with the providers to receive guidance and instruction for treating patients, • Maintain appropriate communication and good interpersonal skills with supervisors, providers, staff and patients to ensure coordinated efforts and provision of high-quality service, • Take all necessary precautions to protect center assets and property against loss or waste through negligence or dishonesty Required Qualifications, • High school diploma or GED Equivalent, • Certification of completion of a Dental Assistant program or equivalent experience, • BLS/CPR CertificationPreferred Qualifications, • 1 year experience as a dental assistant in general or pediatric dentistry, • English/Spanish fluency, • Skill in operating computer databases; EHR/EMR, • Ability to read, write, and calculate mathematical figures, • Knowledge of essential functions, practices, and procedures in a dental setting, • Knowledge of medical examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures, • Knowledge of lab procedures and documentation, • Ability to assist the provider using four-handed dental assistant technique, • Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner, • Ability to understand and respond appropriately, effectively, and sensitively to underserved populations
