In this role, you will administer permitted medications, provide personal care, observe residents for changes, maintain accurate documentation, and communicate concerns to the licensed nursing team. serving older adults What You'll Do • Administer medications permitted under the employee’s Rhode Island Medication Aide license, • Follow provider orders, medication-administration records, pharmacy labels, community policies, and established procedures, • Verify resident identity and medication information before administration, • Observe residents before, during, and after medication administration, • Document medications administered, withheld, omitted, or refused, • Promptly report medication errors, adverse reactions, refusals, omissions, or other concerns to the supervising nurse, • Report changes in resident physical condition, behavior, cognition, mood, appetite, mobility, or daily functioning, • Obtain and document vital signs or other health indicators when permitted, trained, determined competent, and assigned, • Seek direction from the supervising nurse whenever an order, medication, resident response, or circumstance is unclear, • Maintain medication carts, supplies, medication records, and storage areas, • Ensure medications are secured, properly stored, and protected from unauthorized access, • Follow infection-control, medication-safety, resident-identification, and emergency procedures, • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and personal hygiene, • Assist residents with walking, mobility, positioning, and transfers according to their service plans, • Respond promptly to resident requests and emergency-call systems, • Encourage resident participation in meals, activities, and community programs, • Provide companionship, reassurance, and respectful personal support, • Document resident care and services accurately and promptly, • Maintain resident privacy, dignity, rights, and confidentiality, • Communicate respectfully with residents, families, nurses, pharmacies, providers, and other team members, • Participate in required orientation, training, competency evaluations, meetings, and continuing education, • Complete additional duties permitted by the employee’s licenses, training, competency, supervision, and assigned role What We're Looking For • Current and valid Rhode Island Nursing Assistant license, • Current and valid Rhode Island Medication Aide license, • Both licenses must be active and in good standing, • High school diploma or equivalent, • Strong attention to detail and commitment to medication safety, • Ability to follow provider orders, pharmacy labels, medication records, policies, and supervisory direction, • Strong observation, organization, and time-management skills, • Ability to recognize and promptly report medication concerns and changes in resident condition, • Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with residents, families, nurses, pharmacies, providers, and coworkers, • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, verbally and in writing, as required to understand medication orders, document administration, report resident changes, and respond during emergencies, • Ability to work independently within the assigned role while knowing when to seek nursing direction, • Ability to provide respectful assistance with activities of daily living, • Previous assisted living, memory care, long-term care, or senior-care experience is preferred, • Basic computer skills and the ability to complete electronic documentation, • Dependable attendance and punctuality, • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and remain active throughout the workday, • Ability to safely lift, transfer, push, or pull up to (physical requirement) pounds with assistance or available equipment, • Ability to successfully complete required background checks, health screenings, and employment requirements Rhode Island Medication Aide Requirements • Must maintain active Rhode Island Nursing Assistant and Medication Aide licenses throughout employment, • Must perform medication duties under the supervision required by Rhode Island law and community policy, • May only administer medications and perform related duties permitted by the employee’s license, training, demonstrated competency, and assigned role, • Must complete required medication-aide competency evaluations and continuing education, • Must promptly report medication concerns, resident changes, and situations requiring nursing judgment, • May not independently assess residents, make medication decisions, change provider orders, or perform duties reserved for licensed nurses, • May not administer medications that are prohibited under Rhode Island Medication Aide regulations, • Injectable medications that residents cannot self-administer must be referred to a
