Job Description We are seeking a Full-Time (40 Hours) and Part-Time (20 Hours) Paralegal with a robust background in probate, estate planning, Medicaid planning, and elder law to join our practice. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to contribute immediately, providing advanced support in all facets of probate (guardianships, decedent estates, contested matters), simple and complex estate planning, trusts and estates, and knowledge of elder law is a plus. This position demands extraordinary organizational aptitude, exceptional legal acumen, team-oriented, and refined communication skills. Primary Responsibilities • Knowledge of probate, probate pleadings, and all probate matters from beginning to end., • Prepare, review, and manage estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives., • Oversee all aspects of trusts and estates administration, including drafting and filing court documents in accordance with applicable procedures., • Draft comprehensive client retainer agreements and supporting documentation., • Communicate effectively and professionally with courts, nursing homes, clients, and families, ensuring clarity and discretion in all interactions., • Coordinate the collection and organization of necessary documents and information and documentation from clients and third parties as necessary., • Support attorneys in preparation for court appearances, hearings, and mediations by compiling exhibits, organizing case files, and managing deadlines., • Track case progress, monitor critical dates, and maintain compliance with legal requirements and deadlines., • Uphold strict confidentiality and professionalism in all matters. Qualifications • Minimum of five years’ paralegal experience, with at least three years devoted to elder law, estate planning, and trusts and estates., • Comprehensive knowledge of probate, Medicaid planning, guardianship, and estate planning., • Proven expertise in preparing and filing court documents and liaising with court personnel., • Demonstrated proficiency in drafting and managing client documents and agreements., • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with experience engaging clients, court staff, and external organizations such as nursing facilities., • Outstanding organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail., • Ability to operate independently and efficiently manage a demanding caseload from the outset., • Ability to operate as a team member in both our legal and fiduciary departments., • Familiar with legal software such as Caret and Wealth Counsel, Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic court filing systems. Preferred qualifications • Paralegal certification or degree from an accredited institution., • Experience mentoring and training legal support staff., • Multilingual abilities are highly regarded.
