Job DescriptionPipe Layer – Laborers & Operators (Storm, Sewer, Water) Locations: Charleston, North Charleston, St. George, SC Employment Type: Full-time | Schedule: Monday–Friday + Overtime as needed Compensation: Competitive; more pay for more experience (including equipment operation: excavator, loader, skid steer, etc.) Start Date: Immediate openings About the Role We’re hiring Pipe Layers of all skill levels to join our civil/utility construction crews installing storm drain, sanitary sewer, and domestic/fire water systems on new construction projects across the Lowcountry. Openings range from entry-level laborers to experienced pipe layers and equipment operators. General Pipe Crew Duties (All Skill Levels) • Assist with excavation, trenching, pipe bedding, laying pipe, backfill, and compaction to specified grades and tolerances., • Set and align structures (manholes, inlets/catch basins, junction boxes, valve boxes, meter boxes)., • Handle materials (RCP, PVC, DIP, HDPE), gaskets, lubricants, fittings, and appurtenances., • Use lasers and transit/levels (or GPS) to maintain line and grade; pull string line and establish benchmarks., • Install service connections (laterals/taps, cleanouts, hydrants, valves, blow-offs, meter sets)., • Perform trench safety: install and work with shoring/trench boxes, sloping, and benching; follow competent person direction., • Assist with dewatering (pumps, well points), bypass pumping, and trench stabilization., • Set up traffic control (cones/signage/flagging) and maintain safe work zones., • Maintain site housekeeping, erosion & sediment control (silt fence, inlet protection), and daily logs as required., • Participate in daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)/Toolbox Talks and follow company safety policies.Schedule & Work Environment, • Typical: Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM (varies by site) with overtime and occasional Saturdays as needed., • Work in active construction zones with heavy equipment, traffic, and changing site conditions., • Role requires PPE (provided/required): hard hat, steel-toe boots, high-vis vest, gloves, eye/ear protection.Pay & Benefits, • Pay is experience-based: higher rates for proven pipe laying skills and equipment operation (excavator, front-end loader, skid steer, etc.)., • Potential for advancement to Lead Pipe Layer/Operator/Foreman for top performers., • Pay ranges from 19-24 with the expectation of growing., • Weekly pay, and consistent overtime., • Benefits may include: health insurance, 401(k), PTO/paid holidays, weekly pay, bonuses.
