Job Description Commercial Construction Superintendent Location: Albuquerque / Santa Fe, NM Company: RM-MCI, LLC Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience, Health Insurance, Retirement plan company truck, bonus potential, and paid time off RM-MCI, LLC is seeking an experienced Commercial Superintendent with a strong background in Institutional construction projects to lead field operations on commercial projects in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe, NM markets. This position is ideal for a hands-on construction leader who understands the unique demands of building and renovating schools, medical centers, government buildings and other public infrastructure projects. Experience in occupied buildings in a plus. Position Summary The Commercial Superintendent will oversee day-to-day field operations for construction projects from mobilization through closeout. This role is responsible for coordinating subcontractors, enforcing safety standards, maintaining schedules, managing inspections, ensuring quality workmanship, and communicating effectively with project managers, owners, architects, engineers, school representatives, and trade partners. The ideal candidate has successfully completed commercial construction projects involving medical centers, schools, educational facilities, administrative offices, athletic facilities, community centers or similar public/institutional buildings. Key Responsibilities • Lead daily field operations on commercial school construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to plans and specifications., • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, inspectors, and field personnel., • Manage project schedules, including short-interval look-ahead schedules, trade sequencing, deliveries, inspections, and critical path activities., • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized jobsite, with special attention to school environments, occupied campuses, student/staff separation, access control, fencing, signage, and public safety., • Review construction drawings, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and project documents to ensure work is installed correctly., • Conduct daily jobsite inspections to monitor quality, productivity, safety, and compliance with project requirements., • Coordinate with school district representatives, principals, facility managers, architects, engineers, project managers, and inspectors., • Support project phasing, temporary facilities, utility shutdowns, after-hours work, and work performed during school breaks or summer schedules., • Manage inspections and coordinate with local authorities having jurisdiction, fire marshals, building officials, and third-party inspectors., • Document daily jobsite activity through daily reports, photos, manpower logs, weather conditions, deliveries, safety observations, and progress updates., • Identify field conflicts, constructability issues, delays, and potential change orders, and communicate them promptly to the project manager., • Enforce company policies, OSHA requirements, jobsite safety procedures, and quality standards., • Assist with punch list creation, completion, owner training, turnover documentation, and project closeout. Required Qualifications Minimum of 5+ years of commercial construction superintendent experience. Demonstrated experience building or renovating medical centers, schools, educational facilities, administrative offices, athletic facilities, community centers or similar public/institutional buildings. Strong knowledge of commercial construction means and methods, including sitework, concrete, structural steel, masonry, framing, roofing, MEP systems, finishes, fire protection, and life safety systems. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, submittals, RFIs, and contract documents. Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades on active jobsites. Strong understanding of jobsite safety requirements and OSHA standards. Proven ability to maintain project schedules and proactively solve field issues. Strong communication, leadership, organization, and documentation skills. Comfortable using construction management software, tablets, email, digital drawings, and scheduling tools. • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation., • Ability to travel between project sites in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe, NM areas as needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Administrative buildings, K–12 public school projects or medical centers, bond program work, fast paced renovation schedules, occupied campus construction, or phased additions. Experience working with utility departments, architects, municipal inspectors, fire marshals, and public-sector owners. • OSHA 30 certification preferred., • CPR/First Aid certification preferred., • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, PlanGrid, Autodesk Build, or similar platforms. Ideal Candidate Profile The right candidate is a confident field leader who takes ownership of the jobsite and understands that school construction requires extra attention to safety, cleanliness, communication, and schedule control. You should be comfortable working within occupied buildings and working with a and around inspectors, and public stakeholders while maintaining a professional jobsite at all times. You are proactive, organized, firm but fair with subcontractors, and able to anticipate problems before they affect the schedule. You know how to push work forward while maintaining quality, safety, and positive relationships with the project team and subcontractors. Projects may include new school construction, additions, renovations, summer break work, after-hours work, occupied campus work, and phased construction.
