Job Description Position title: Instructional Building Substitute Teacher Reports to: Principal Compensation: $20 to $25 per hour Position Summary The Instructional Building Substitute will be assigned daily to cover teacher absences. Ideally, assignments will last no more than 1 consecutive week in any one class. They will present and teach subject matter across content areas to students K-8 as outlined on substitute plans by the classroom teacher. On the occasion when no absence coverage is needed, the instructional building substitute will follow a school provided push-in support schedule. It is likely that this will be primarily in science, social studies, art, music, physical education or Chinese language classes. The Teacher Assistant will help the lead teacher with all classroom functions that follows below. 1. Possess and demonstrate strong working knowledge of Best Practices and other regulations., 2. Develop and implement curriculum, which reflect mandated elements and components, parental and cultural influences, and promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of PREK children., 3. Create weekly lesson plans, using Creative Curriculum and BluePrint, addressing individual goals for children. Provide a comprehensive safe and healthy learning environment for the children., 4. Follow a consistent schedule, which includes but is not limited to: small and large group experiences, choice time, music and movement, large and small motor activities, skill development, meals, and effective transitions between activities., 5. Meet education and health requirements of children in assigned classroom, including all required screenings. Assess children, document behavior, and evaluate results., 6. During family orientation. set educational goals for each child with the collaboration of the parents. Assist parents as primary teachers of their own children., 7. Consistently maintain and promote excellence in service through open and honest relationships with families, community members, and other LPV staff., 8. Consistently addresses families, community members, and co-workers in a courteous, pleasant, and respectful manner., 9. Consistently demonstrate respect for the capabilities and cultural differences of co-workers and families., 10. Maintain a developmentally appropriate classroom environment, including organization of space and material storage and meal implementation., 11. With Directors and Education Coordinators guidance, may provide leadership and direction to Classroom Aide(s), practicum students, families, and may actively participate in a co-teaching system., 12. In consultation with Director and Education Coordinator, develop own professional work goals and training plan working towards professional goals., 13. Maintain complete and accurate required family/child files, forms, and records within required timelines to document and track children in assigned classroom through Education Binder, Teaching Strategies, and Procare App., 14. Maintain complete and accurate documentation of compliance with agency policies and funders requirements., 15. Participate in required meetings as assigned., 16. Implement strategies and activities through school, agency, parent, and child contacts., 17. Participate in annual program Self-Assessment., 18. Maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment concerning confidential information., 19. Maintain regular job attendance and adherence to working hours. Regular attendance and punctuality are a requirement of this position., 20. Accept and perform other work as assigned by the school district support and Keystone Stars., 21. Possess and maintain clearances and professional development and/or certifications that are required for job., 22. Demonstrate a professional and courteous manner and an ability to work harmoniously with other LPV Staff and Families., 23. Follow agency personnel and safety procedures.
