Job Description Company Overview: For nearly 50 years, The Women’s Center has addressed significant problems of violence, crisis, and poverty experienced by women and families in Tarrant County. The founders of the Center created a place of healing, growth, and transformation that has served hundreds of thousands of women, men, and children. This has been made possible through the commitment of expert staff, generous donors, dedicated volunteers, a passionate involved board of directors, and numerous community partnerships. Its primary programs consist of Rape Crisis & Victim Services, Violence Prevention & Education, Employment Solutions, and General Counseling. It is a place where individuals come to find hope, resolve crises that threaten their mental health, become financially stable, and heal from the trauma of sexual assault, child sexual abuse, and other violent crime. The Women’s Center operates on the belief that every person who seeks help has value and possesses the capacity to change their circumstances. Its mission through its many programs is to inspire and empower women, men, and children to overcome violence, crisis, and poverty. The work is not about tragedy; rather it is about hope, recovery, and growth. Position: The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the executive leadership team and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational and programmatic functions of the organization in addition to high level administrative responsibilities. Reporting to the CEO, the COO ensures that internal systems, people, and processes effectively support the organization’s mission, strategic goals, feasibility and long-term sustainability. This is a pivotal role with the potential to shape the future of the organization at the highest level and is a strategic leadership position designed with succession in mind. While not a guaranteed path, the COO will be strongly positioned as the leading candidate to become the next CEO. The successful candidate will grow into that possibility bringing innovative ideas, adaptability in a changing funding environment, collaborative spirit, and a deep commitment to The Center’s mission and vision. Responsibilities: Direct Reports: • Director, Rape Crisis & Victim Services, • Director, General Counseling, • Under the supervision of the CEO, learn the operations and culture of The Women’s Center including: Program; Finance; Grants Management; Human Resources; Resource Development; Donor and Community Relations; Board Development and Management., • Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team., • Translate strategic priorities into operational plans and measurable outcomes., • Provide leadership to ensure alignment across programs, operations, and finance., • Support board committees as needed., • Support program leaders to ensure operational alignment with mission outcomes., • Monitor program efficiency and impact metrics., • Ensure systems and infrastructure effectively support service delivery., • Work with program directors to ensure effective program implementation and to foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement., • Implement systems to evaluate program effectiveness and efficiency, using data to guide improvements., • Assess community needs in The Women’s Center’s mission space; set priorities and design services to ensure programs are responsive to those needs., • Foster relationships with the nonprofit community to build partnerships and ensure a collaborative approach to services., • Partner with the CEO to develop, maintain and grow funder relationships and opportunities., • Collaborate with CEO and Development Team to identify best strategies for funding requests., • Oversee daily operations to ensure effective program delivery and internal efficiency., • Refine operational policies, systems, and procedures., • Ensure legal, regulatory, and contractual compliance., • Manage risk and ensure cross-department coordination., • Foster a positive, high performance, and mission-driven organizational culture., • Support leadership development and staff engagement., • Enforce conduct and performance standards in line with The Women’s Center’s personnel policies and procedures., • Partner with the CEO, CFO, and Director of Grants Administration to manage budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting., • Monitor program and grant budget performance and implement corrective actions as needed., • Ensure IT systems support program effectiveness and reporting needs., • Align technology initiatives with organizational goals and strategic plans., • Support board operations, committees, and reporting structures., • Represent the organization with partners, funders, and stakeholders as appropriate., • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred ( Non-profit management, Social Work, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field)., • Minimum of seven to ten years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization building trust with a staff., • Solid business acumen and a history of providing visionary leadership at the executive level; ability to effectively interpret financial statements, adhere to a budget, and identify areas of improvement, address problems and develop forecasts., • Demonstrated proficiency in standard office software and digital tools; ability to leverage technology to improve efficiency and workflows., • Experience working with boards, volunteers, and senior leadership teams., • Solid operational, financial, and people management expertise; willingness to make difficult decisions., • Demonstrated ability to build on the organization’s legacy with a new vision/perspective in mind for the future., • Awareness of philanthropic patterns of younger adults., • Knowledge of nonprofit governance, compliance, and funding structures., • Ability to excel at consensus building and maintain significant partnership., • Excellent listening, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills,, • Ability to display empathy and sensitivity, tact, and responsiveness in various situations while maintaining a high level of confidentiality., • Effectively embrace the mission of the organization throughout the community at large and build solid relationships with elected officials, other nonprofits, hospitals, high net worth individuals and community leaders.
