American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Wilmington, North Carolina. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 11/03/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 48 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in a hospital-based Medical Surgical Oncology unit, • Primary patient population includes medical-surgical patients with oncology history, • Patient diagnoses include AKI, sepsis, cancer, septic shock, malignant neoplasms, ARF, diabetic foot ulcers, and pain management cases, • Patient ratios are typically 1:6, but may increase during high census periods, • Performs admin of chemotherapy/biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection, • Responsibilities include colostomy care, port access, blood product admin, central and peripheral line care, PICC management, and management of surgical drains and chest tubes, • Requires use of Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication management, • Night shifts (4x12 hours, 18:45–07:15), with every other weekend required, • Floating to similar units, inpatient holding in ED, and alternate care locations is expected, • Assignment to Storm Team or Hurricane Team may be required during catastrophic events, • Orientations consist of 24 hours (2 shifts), • Navy blue and white scrubs are required, • Duties include comprehensive inpatient nursing care of medical-surgical oncology patients, including chemotherapy administration and specialized procedures, • Candidate participation in monthly staff meetings is required, • Participation in disaster response teams such as the Storm Team or Hurricane Team may be required, • All contract RNs are assigned equitably to maintain unit staffing, • Travel pairs accepted but must work on different units, • Holiday work required, with expectation to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment spans holiday periods, • First time travelers are welcome to apply, • Assignment may be 13 or 26 weeks with option for 36 or 48 hour work weeks, • Census fluctuations or disaster events may require consolidation to centralized or alternate units, • Candidates living under 50 miles from the facility will be paid at a local rate\n \n Requirements\n, • Active NC or compact RN license required at time of start, • Minimum of 2 years of relevant inpatient Med/Surg RN experience, • BLS certification required, • Experience with Med/Surg nursing skills including colostomy care, port access, blood product administration, central line blood draws, and wound care, • Experience with non-invasive airway management and use of wound vacs, • Strong familiarity with Epic charting and Pyxis medication systems, • Must pass EKG testing prior to start, • No prior permanent, PRN, or staff employment at specified health system within the past 12 months, • Travel Per Diem clinicians at this health system are not eligible for travel contracts, • Physical ability to meet the demands of inpatient nursing, • Maximum 7 days RTO allowed, with no RTO permitted during orientation week\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
