PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB AND CONTRIBUTION TO ORGANIZATION: This position is responsible for achieving the best possible cost savings while ensuring the most beneficial supply base for the company. This includes the strategic relationship, the contracting, performance review, and improvement of the supply base. ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following job functions are not all-inclusive. The employee will be required to perform other job-related tasks/responsibilities requested by the supervisor. Job duties may change as required by needs of company. • Develop and lead sourcing strategies to initiate cost savings and cost increase avoidance activities while reporting any changes in material costs to Key Stakeholders (Materials Manager, Accounting, Operational Buyer, Managing Director, Director of Purchasing)., • Define, maintain and align all Material Group sourcing strategies Global, Regional, and Locally, while ensuring a data driven approach to the Material Group Strategy, • Identifying supply chain risks and developing mitigation plans., • Defining single vs. multiple sourcing and assess risks and opportunities for relevant commodities., • Evaluate market dynamics to ensure material costs are relevant to market values., • The Strategic Buyer assumes the role of Project Buyer supporting selected projects to ensure the best cost is obtained for specific project materials., • Request and sourcing of RFQs for production and non-production materials. Tailor strategies and RFQ’s to specific needs., • Act as the liaison between the company and the vendor/supplier for all requisitions and transactions outside of normal Operational Purchasing activities., • Ensure cost-effectiveness, quality and timely procurement and delivery of all supplier services, • Manage all negotiations and contracts/agreements for their defined Global/Regional commodities for all of Interroll to maximize Global buying power., • Develops and manages the supply chain base by defining preferred vendors/partners, standard agreements, supplier ratings, improvement incentives, VMI, Kanban, and Consignment programs., • Work to create and maintain all monthly reporting and KPI activities., • Member of the Global Purchasing Organization and engages with global team regularly, which may include traveling to other locations., • Materials Management support within SAP., • Oversee the Operational Buyer ensuring that all negotiated contracts/agreements are being utilized when purchase orders are issued to the vendor/supplier., • Perform all other duties as required by the Leadership Team., • Perform international supplier visits and supplier qualification audits, • Manage development and preparation of indirect purchase contracts and ensure all contract renewal reviews are done on time., • Develops and oversees the strategic sourcing for Capital Projects while ensuring alignment to business units, • Supports and assists all Sustainability and ESG activities. Considers Sustainability and ESG when developing a Material Group Strategy and Vendor Selection., • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time. OTHER AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES: • Evaluate and monitor all Material Groups (commodities) for risks., • Manages the supplier base by maintaining Interroll Quality documents, performing supplier audits, reporting supplier performance., • Issues express RFQs within competences for cost savings, • Maintains supplier contacts in the daily business., • Maintains and sets up proper Master Data., • Resolves global and local issues relevant to the Lead/Strategic buyer’s specific commodities. To include: Lead Time discrepancies, pricing/invoice discrepancies, quality concerns., • Assist in inventory control., • Assist in material management., • Assist in Capital Expenditure activities. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree Preferred PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is required to walk and reach with hands and arms and move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision. The noise level in the work environment is regular factory noises. Wearing the proper PPE (protective eyewear, ear plugs and steal toed shoes) is a requirement in most areas of this facility.
