American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 03/30/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Mar 30, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Acute care hospital setting on a 55-bed Med/Surg Orthopedic Trauma unit (4th Floor North & South), • Level 1 Trauma Center, • Patient population includes joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbations, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive, • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6; nurse aides/PCTs available at a 1:10-20 ratio, • Telemetry monitoring available with tele techs interpreting strips; RNs are expected to have basic tele awareness, • RNs required to titrate Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips; PCA pumps also in use, • Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment, • 12-hour night shifts (1830–0700), • Every other weekend required, with potential for additional coverage based on department needs; schedules posted 6 weeks in advance, • Floating required to other Med/Surg areas or units holding Med/Surg patients, • EMR: EpicRequirements, • Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses not accepted, • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, • Required certifications: BLS (AHA); ACLS preferred, • Med/Surg and/or Orthopedic Trauma experience required, • Basic telemetry awareness required, • Experience titrating drips (Heparin, lidocaine, ketamine) required, • Driver's license required for consideration (used to verify residence outside the 50-mile radius), • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire, • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be consideredAdditional Information, • 2-day unit-specific orientation provided, followed by a pass/fail open-book skills exam on the final day of orientation; a minimum score of 90% is required to pass, • High-volume unit with frequent admissions and discharges; strong time management, attendance, and teamwork are essential for success, • Unit emphasizes hourly rounding and responsiveness, • Mechanical lifts available in every other room, • Diverse patient population served, including Spanish-, Karen-, and Burmese-speaking patients, • Scrub color: Navy Blue; artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas, • Holiday coverage required for 2–3 holidays between Thanksgiving and New Year's, • RTO must be submitted upfront; limited to 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract with no additional RTO approved after submission, • Block scheduling available in limited amounts; travelers are otherwise scheduled by the facility With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
