Position Summary Access Communications Group is seeking a Project Manager – OSP / Telecom Construction to plan, coordinate, and oversee outside plant telecommunications projects. This role will support fiber-optic construction, underground and aerial deployments, permitting, field operations, subcontractor coordination, and project closeout. The ideal candidate has strong OSP technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple active projects in a fast-paced construction environment. Key Responsibilities Project Planning, Scheduling & Execution • Manage day-to-day operations for OSP projects, including fiber builds, trenching, boring, aerial work, and splicing activities., • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, work plans, and resource plans., • Conduct field visits to monitor progress, safety, construction quality, and project completion., • Identify risks, delays, conflicts, or nonconformities and implement corrective actions., • Coordinate with engineers, field crews, subcontractors, clients, and internal teams., • Manage subcontractor performance and verify completed work., • Communicate project updates, blockers, risks, and schedule changes to leadership., • Oversee permitting processes with cities, utilities, and municipalities., • Review and interpret construction drawings, maps, engineering plans, permits, and technical specifications., • Track materials, equipment, resource needs, and procurement requirements., • Maintain accurate daily reports, project updates, field notes, and client deliverables., • Support closeout packages, as-built documentation, redlines, and final inspections., • Recommend improvements to OSP workflows, documentation standards, and operational efficiency., • Support initiatives that improve safety, field standards, team collaboration, and cross-functional processes., • Track project metrics, performance indicators, and benchmarks. During the first 30 days, the Project Manager will be expected to: • Learn current OSP project workflows, documentation standards, and safety requirements., • Demonstrate consistent communication, note-taking, reporting, and follow-through., • Begin managing components of active projects with support., • Complete field visits to understand project requirements, site conditions, and construction expectations., • Review existing project plans, schedules, permits, and documentation workflows. Over time, the Project Manager will be expected to: • Independently manage multiple OSP projects with minimal oversight., • Improve accuracy and efficiency in scheduling, budgeting, and field coordination., • Strengthen customer communication and subcontractor management., • Become a technical subject-matter resource for OSP construction, field operations, testing, and permitting., • Develop improved workflows that enhance communication, documentation quality, and project execution. Daily & Weekly Deliverables • Maintain updated project notes, schedules, progress reports, and field status., • Communicate blockers, schedule changes, permitting updates, and project risks., • Submit weekly project updates to leadership, including schedule status, field progress, and material needs., • Confirm upcoming milestones, priorities, and deliverables with the management team., • Participate in monthly KPI reviews covering schedule adherence, budget performance, safety compliance, documentation accuracy, and closeout progress., • Review subcontractor performance, risk items, and process improvements., • Submit completed reports, as-builts as applicable, and updated project documentation., • 3+ years of experience in OSP, telecom construction, fiber-optic construction, or project management., • Strong understanding of OSP construction methods, including aerial, underground, fiber installation, splicing, and testing., • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, maps, and engineering plans., • Experience managing crews, subcontractors, or field operations., • Knowledge of permitting requirements and utility coordination., • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects., • Proficiency with project management tools and Microsoft Office., • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites., • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills., • Ask questions immediately when requirements, drawings, technical specifications, or instructions are unclear., • Work independently while managing multiple priorities and project demands., • Maintain professionalism, customer service, and safety compliance at all times.
