American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Rochester, New York. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 10/27/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in a hospital-based Med/Surg Telemetry unit, • Primary patient population includes those with osteoarthritis, fractures, orthopedic trauma, and post joint replacement, • Patient ratios are 5:1 on days/evenings, 6-7:1 at night, with occasional stretch ratios as high as 9-10:1 at night, • Care team includes support from PCTs (vital signs, ADLs, EKGs) and in-house phlebotomy for peripheral lab draws, • Nursing staff responsible for PICC and central line care, • Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 19:00–07:00), • Every other weekend shifts are required, • Floating to similar units is required, • Uses Epic for electronic charting; Epic experience is required, • Scrub color is any combination of navy and white, • RNs will manage a diverse Med/Surg Tele caseload, including patients with fractures, joint replacements, and dysrhythmias, • Must participate in team-based care with role-specific duties supported by PCTs and phlebotomy teams, • No on-call responsibilities, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply, • Return staff can be considered after 1 year, • No more than 1 week of requested time off (RTO) will be approved per contract, • Mandatory completion of pre-assignment modules, with up to 5 module hours compensated, • Holiday and weekend coverage is required according to unit needs, • Call off policy allows up to 3 shifts per 13-week contract\n \n Requirements\n, • Active NY RN license required at time of consideration, • Minimum of 1 year recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience required, • Current BLS certification required, • Demonstrated experience with Epic charting system, • Skill in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, peripheral and central line care, heparin protocols, and cardiac drip management (no titration), • Experience with wound care/wound vac, feeding tube care, tracheostomy management, chest tubes, external CPAP/BIPAP, and HFNC preferred, • Management of ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) is required, • No local candidates accepted within 75 miles of the facility, • No pending licenses accepted; candidates must have active license in hand\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
