Job Description Job Title: Production Supervisor Job Description The Production Supervisor oversees safety, quality, and productivity in a high-volume manufacturing environment, ensuring all objectives are achieved through standardized work and continuous improvement. This role focuses strongly on lean manufacturing principles, drives operational results, and maintains a safe workplace while supervising hourly employees and supporting weekly payroll processes. Responsibilities • Coach and reinforce safety, quality, and productivity standards on the production floor to ensure all operational objectives are consistently met., • Ensure teams follow standardized work procedures and manufacturing best practices across all assigned areas., • Lead and support lean manufacturing initiatives, including continuous improvement and process optimization activities., • Monitor production lines in Truck/Transit Final Assembly and other plant areas as needed to maintain output and efficiency., • Supervise hourly employees working on the line, including unionized (UAW) staff, and provide clear direction and performance feedback., • Oversee daily production operations, including assembly processes, to meet schedule and quality requirements., • Drive results through effective planning, problem-solving, and coordination of labor and resources., • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture by identifying risks, addressing unsafe conditions, and ensuring compliance with safety guidelines., • Manage weekly payroll-related activities for assigned employees, ensuring accurate time reporting and timely payment., • Communicate expectations, production targets, and process changes clearly to team members across all shifts., • Support and participate in continuous improvement projects, including Six Sigma and other process improvement initiatives., • Adapt to rotating shifts every four months and provide leadership across day, mid, and overnight shifts as required., • Work extended hours, including frequent overtime and weekend work, to support production demands., • Collaborate with other supervisors and plant leadership to resolve production issues and improve overall operational performance. Essential Skills • Proven experience in production supervision within a manufacturing or assembly environment., • Experience in safety, quality, and productivity management on the production floor., • Hands-on experience with assembly operations and production management., • Demonstrated ability to apply lean manufacturing principles in a high-volume environment., • Experience with continuous improvement and process improvement initiatives., • Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies and tools., • Ability to supervise and work alongside hourly employees, including unionized (UAW) staff., • Capability to manage and support weekly payroll processes, ensuring timely and accurate payment., • Ability to work any shift, including day, mid, and overnight, with rotating shifts approximately every four months., • Willingness and ability to work heavy weekly hours, typically 60–70 hours per week and often 6–7 days per week., • Minimum education requirement of a high school diploma., • Strong communication and coaching skills to guide and motivate production teams., • Ability to maintain focus on safety while driving results and meeting production targets. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience supervising production in Truck/Transit Final Assembly or similar large-scale manufacturing operations., • Prior experience working in a unionized environment with UAW employees., • Exposure to formal lean manufacturing and Six Sigma training or certifications., • Familiar with process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing waste., • Ability to adapt quickly to different areas of the plant and support multiple production lines as needed., • Strong organizational skills to manage high workloads, rotating shifts, and overtime demands., • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with frequent operational changes. Work Environment The role is based in a large manufacturing facility, primarily within Truck/Transit Final Assembly areas, with the possibility of assignment to other plant operations. You work directly on and around production lines, supervising hourly UAW employees and monitoring assembly and production activities. The environment is fast-paced and requires comfort with extended hours, including frequent overtime, rotating shifts every four months, and regular weekend work. Attire is casual but professional, with a collared shirt expected. You will use standard production and assembly equipment and operate within established safety and quality procedures while supporting both day-to-day operations and ongoing process improvements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $38.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
