General Foreman - 2nd Shift Job Description Mueller Water Products is the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries and has an immediate opening for a 2nd Shift General Foreman at our Chattanooga, TN facility. Come be a part of something that sustains and enriches the lives of every human being. As a General Foreman, you will plan and coordinate the production team to meet daily and monthly goals. In addition to coaching and leading the other departments, you will plan and implement work for production areas ensuring materials and staffing are available for the department to perform daily work. You perform capacity analyses by specific work center and make capital equipment recommendations, also implementing flow manufacturing techniques where appropriate. Primary Responsibilities: \n • Direct production operations in accordance with established priorities and sequences for manufacturing products using knowledge of production processes and methods, machine and equipment capabilities, and skilled labor.\n, • Lead and mentor the production supervisors to ensure goals are met and to instill professional development.\n, • Monitors and evaluates employee productivity and behavior and provides constructive feedback and coaching. Owns progressive discipline for assigned employees. Manages or routes employee relations issues appropriately and timely.\n, • Maintains timekeeping and personnel records including but not limited to, vacation and time off requests and progressive discipline.\n, • Partner with Operations Managers, Supervisors, Production Planning, and Materials departments to establish production schedules, combat production issues, and offer suggestions for changes in production conditions.\n, • Assist Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Engineering personnel in testing, troubleshooting, and modifying processes to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of products.\n, • Abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures in meeting or exceeding goals established for safety, labor efficiencies, schedule attainment, scrap, rework, and any other production related goals.\n, • Supervise and assist in the setup, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of production equipment.\n, • Initiate, suggest, and implement plans to motivate, empower, and develop workers to achieve work goals in a team environment while complying with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.\n, • Remain flexible in lean technique implementation and principles such as 5S, standardized work, waste identification and elimination, value stream mapping, team based multi-skilled workforce, one-piece flow technology, visual factory concepts, and total productive maintenance.\n, • Ensures that all employees are following proper safety protocols including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and equipment.\n, • Perform other duties as directed.\n\n Required Skills: \n • Strong, proven leadership background leading employees in a manufacturing environment.\n, • Intermediate computer skills including the use of Office Suite and especially Excel and Outlook.\n, • Ability to operate with a sense of urgency and distribute time sensitive and accurate data.\n, • Comfortable coaching, developing, and holding others accountable.\n, • Demonstrated ability to successfully achieve goals through influence.\n, • Understanding and ability to drive LEAN principles.\n, • Ability to read and interpret blueprints in addition to being able to machine from those prints.\n, • Ability to assess, perform, and train others production processes and equipment.\n, • Technical expertise in manufacturing.\n, • Must be organized and detail orientated.\n, • Must be able to communicate in an effective manner with all levels of employees.\n\n Required Education/Experience: \n • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.\n, • At least 5 to 10 years of supervisory experience is required.\n, • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.\n\n Preferred: • Experience using JD Edwards E1 ERP system a major plus.\n Physical Requirements: \n • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, safety glasses, steel-toed or metatarsal-guarded shoes, and/or ear plugs, while working in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment.\n, • Ability to use hands to handle, feel, or manipulate objects with fingers.\n, • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, and reach within hands and/or arm's length.\n, • Ability to frequently stoop, kneel, and crouch.\n, • Ability to occasionally reach overhead or at or below shoulder level.\n, • Ability to ascend or descend ladders or steps in confined spaces, as required by work area.\n, • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects between 25 and 50 pounds in weight in all directions.\n, • Ability to remain in stationary or standing position for prolonged periods and to alternate between positions as necessary.\n, • Ability to perform close visual inspections of products, which may include specific vision requirements.\n, • Ability to work in an open warehouse environment, subject to seasonal weather (hot/cold).\n, • Ability to constantly communicate with others to exchange information in person, via phone, or via use of computer.\n, • Ability to safely drive/operate motorized equipment/PIT.\n\n Mueller is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
