Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance Engineer Job Description This role focuses on maintaining and improving high-speed manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced production environment. The maintenance engineer performs electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, conducts preventive and reactive maintenance, and ensures equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably to support continuous plant operations. Responsibilities • Perform preventive and reactive maintenance on manufacturing equipment, including high-speed fillers, steamers, tray packaging equipment, blow mold equipment, palletizer equipment, and conveyors., • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems up to 480V, including three-phase power, using appropriate tools and safety practices., • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on conveyors and other moving equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production flow., • Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, identifying leaks, failures, and performance issues and performing necessary repairs., • Use tools such as multimeters and other diagnostic equipment to test and verify electrical and electronic components., • Inspect, adjust, and replace sensors, including proximity sensors, photoeyes, and reflective photoeyes, to ensure accurate detection and system performance., • Identify and address issues related to gear boxes, cavitation in pumps, and other rotating equipment components., • Perform basic welding tasks as needed to support equipment repair, modification, or fabrication., • Support and participate in preventive maintenance programs (PMP), documenting work performed and updating maintenance records., • Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize and complete maintenance tasks in a timely manner., • Assist with troubleshooting and basic programming or adjustments on PLCs or robotics if applicable, or work alongside specialists to resolve control system issues., • Follow plant safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout and safe work practices for electrical and mechanical systems., • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring issues, recommending corrective actions, and contributing to long-term equipment reliability., • Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to lower-level technicians, helping them develop skills and advance through the tiered pay structure.Essential Skills, • Previous manufacturing maintenance experience, including hands-on work in a production or industrial environment., • Demonstrated electrical troubleshooting and repair experience on 480V systems, including three-phase power., • Mechanical experience working with conveyors and other moving equipment in a manufacturing setting., • Proficiency using a multimeter and other diagnostic tools to test electrical circuits and components., • Experience working with proximity sensors, photoeyes, and reflective photoeyes for equipment control and safety., • Knowledge of color codes and wiring practices for 480V three-phase electrical systems., • Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repair., • Ability to perform basic welding tasks to support maintenance and repair activities., • Understanding of gear boxes, cavitation in pumps, and related mechanical components and failures., • Experience performing preventive maintenance (PMP) and documenting maintenance activities., • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems., • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with both PM and reactive maintenance demands.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience in food or beverage manufacturing maintenance., • Knowledge of PLCs or robotics, including basic troubleshooting or programming exposure., • Familiarity with tray packaging equipment, blow mold equipment, palletizers, high-speed fillers, and steamers., • Experience working within a tiered maintenance structure or progression-based technical role., • Comfort working nights and on a rotating schedule in a 24/7 production environment., • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with leads, technicians, and production staff.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a fast-paced manufacturing facility that operates seven days a week, including holidays, to support continuous production. The maintenance team supports night shift operations, with roles such as Maintenance Lead and Maintenance Technician working a 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. schedule. The schedule follows a 2-2-3 style rotation, with variations such as two days off, three days on, and three days off, providing a repeating pattern of work and rest days. Work includes both preventive maintenance and reactive maintenance on high-speed production equipment, conveyors, packaging machinery, blow molding systems, palletizers, and related systems. Technicians regularly use tools such as multimeters and work with 480V three-phase electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, sensors, and welding equipment. The environment requires adherence to safety procedures, attention to detail, and comfort working around running production lines and industrial machinery. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.95 - $37.70/hr.
