Typical Work Duties (not limited to): • Files and retrieves various pharmacy records as required and / or requested by the pharmacist, • Work independently - Responds to questions not requiring a pharmacists’ professional judgment, • Assures any credit and billing tasks are completed in a timely and thorough manner, • Attends to customers/nonprofessional calls in a courteous and timely manner, • Serves as liaison between the client and pharmacist, • Recognizes departures from the norm and discusses with pharmacist, • Orders medication/aids in inventory maintenance at remote facilities, • Assists with automated dispensing device inventory verification, • Performs various and basic computer functions / database management, • Retrieves specific clerical and other patient information from patient profile as directed by the pharmacist, • Calling facilities and relaying message left on scan to HUC/NS, • Pharmacists--please leave as much information as possible so that the tech can read the deficiency to the nurse and it can be easily understood., • Follow up on call to facility if no response after a reasonable amount of time (~ 2 hours), • Inform in-house pharmacists of deficiencies for their facility if they remain in the queue for an extended period of time, • Call facilities to obtain and enter height, weight, allergies and other non-clinical patient data, • Transfer call to pharmacist if contact available to provide clinical data (dosing, frequency, interactions, etc.), • Transfer call to the pharmacist who marked the order deficient for consistency (if possible), • Each morning the techs will create a dummy scan with the location of "DEMO" and mark it STAT, • Technicians will check the Clinical Monitoring Spreadsheet for daily lab orders, • Labs that are to be drawn will be listed along with patient name and ID# and the approximate time the lab is ordered, • As the results are provided, the pharmacist will cross off the patient name on the scan and enter the results into the spreadsheet Requirements: Ability and Requirements: Ability to understand oral and written directions from registered pharmacists, organize and perform work effectively and accurately, operate computers, word processors, understand medical terminology, conceptualize, and communicate improvement in functioning pharmacy procedures.
