Details • Work in a 34-bed Med/Surg Tele unit at a 337-licensed-bed hospital in Charlotte, NC, • Hospital is designated as a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center, • Patient population includes medical diagnoses such as DKA, sepsis, CHF, AKI, pneumonia, anemia, and sickle cell crisis, as well as surgical patients including spinal fusions, pancreatitis, and orthopedic total joint replacements (knees/hips), • Night shift: 12-hour shifts, 7:50 PM – 7:20 AM, 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle, • RN patient ratios: 1:5 on days, 1:6 on nights (surge staffing may increase ratios to 1:7–1:8), • EMR: Epic (experience required), • Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, and Rover Communication system, • No telemetry remote monitoring — charge nurse, clinical supervisor, and unit staff are responsible for reading and posting rhythm strips each shift, • Floating required within the region and scope of practice, including to Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, Levine Children's Hospital), • Every other weekend rotation required, • No on-call requirementsRequirements, • Active NC or compact RN license required, • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), • Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele experience required, with most recent experience within the last year, • Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation required, • Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone) required, • General Med/Surg skills required, including care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes, • Candidate's permanent address must be located 50+ miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted, • At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required for consideration, • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for considerationAdditional Information, • Unit support includes CNAs (1:12 ratio), a 24/7 receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, 24/7 phlebotomy, 24/7 IV/VAT team, a unit-dedicated pharmacist, two case managers, a Med/Surg Clinical Nurse Specialist, a nurse educator, 24/7 respiratory therapy (performs nebulizer treatments), and 24/7 hospitalist coverage, • Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation, • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays, • Floating mid-shift between facilities is compensated with travel time paid, • Scrub color: Navy Blue, • Parking is free, • Unit culture is described as welcoming with helpful teammates, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply, • Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered American Traveler Job ID #P-707772.
