Bank of San Francisco is seeking a Senior Vice President, Head of Loan Operations to become a critical part of our team. The Senior Vice President, Head of Loan Operations is responsible for the end‑to‑end leadership, strategy, and execution of all loan operations activities across the Bank, including loan documentation, closing, servicing, collateral management, construction administration, and SBA servicing. This role ensures operational excellence, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and a high‑quality client and Relationship Manager experience across all loan products, including C&I, Commercial Real Estate, Construction, SBA, and Residential lending. Location: San Francisco, CA Job Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Governance • Provide executive leadership for all loan operations functions, setting vision, priorities, and performance expectations aligned with the Bank’s strategic goals., • Establish and continuously improve operational policies, procedures, controls, and workflows across the full loan lifecycle—from origination through payoff., • Partner closely with Credit, Compliance, Risk, Finance, IT, and Relationship Management to ensure seamless execution and shared accountability., • Serve as a subject matter expert and executive escalation point for complex loan structures, operational risks, and exception management. Loan Documentation, Closing & Servicing Oversight • Oversee all consumer, commercial, construction, and SBA loan documentation and closing activities to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements and Bank policies., • Ensure timely, high‑quality loan closings that balance risk management with client experience., • Direct ongoing loan servicing activities including payment processing, collateral perfection, covenant tracking, non‑accrual loans, charge‑offs, shadow accounting, and OREO administration., • Maintain strong controls around collateral, flood, tax, insurance, and stock certifications., • Provide executive oversight of construction lending operations, including budget administration, draw management, inspection processes, and funding controls to protect the Bank’s collateral position., • Oversee all SBA loan servicing functions, including compliance with SBA requirements and submission of monthly 1502 reports for 7(a) loans. Systems, Process Optimization & Technology Enablement • Drive loan operations system strategy and effectiveness, including platforms such as nCino, LaserPro, MortgageBot and core systems., • Partner with Technology and vendors to enhance system functionality, automate workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve data integrity., • Lead system upgrades, enhancements, and parameter design; ensure testing, training, and operational readiness across teams., • Leverage data and reporting to identify operational bottlenecks, risk trends, and improvement opportunities., • Drives improvements in loan data accuracy, completeness, and reconciliation to ensure high‑quality operational and regulatory reporting. Regulatory, Audit & Reporting Responsibilities • Ensure loan operations readiness for regulatory exams, internal audits, loan reviews, and compliance testing., • Oversee preparation of loan‑related data for Call Reports and other regulatory reporting., • Coordinate responses to exam findings, remediation plans, and ongoing issue tracking related to loan servicing and operations., • Maintain strong documentation, controls, and audit trails across all operational activities. People Leadership & Talent Development • Lead, develop, and inspire loan operations leaders and staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement., • Build scalable organizational structures and succession plans to support growth., • Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management for loan operations teams., • Promote cross‑functional learning and strong partnerships with Relationship Managers and Credit teams. Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field (advanced degree or professional certifications preferred)., • Minimum of 12 years of progressive banking experience with deep expertise in commercial and residential loan operations, documentation, and servicing., • Strong experience with construction lending and SBA operations preferred., • Demonstrated leadership experience managing complex, multi‑function teams., • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements impacting loan operations, including safety and soundness, documentation, and servicing standards., • Experience with modern loan technology platforms (e.g., nCino, LaserPro, MortgageBot, core systems) and process automation initiatives., • Exceptional communication, judgment, and stakeholder management skills., • Proven ability to lead change, scale operations, and operate effectively in a growth‑oriented environment., • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to assess and mitigate operational risk.
