Job Description Job Title: Food Services Worker Job Description The Food Services Worker supports dietary and cafeteria services in a hospital environment by preparing and delivering food, maintaining a clean and sanitary work area, and ensuring that all food safety standards are met. Under general supervision, this role covers a variety of positions within the dietary services department, contributing to efficient meal service and a positive experience for patients, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities • Prepare food trays accurately according to dietary guidelines and service standards., • Assist with general food preparation while following food safety and sanitation procedures., • Provide tray service, ensuring timely and courteous delivery and pickup of meal trays., • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, ensuring all items are properly sanitized., • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area, including work surfaces, equipment, and storage areas., • Sort, organize, and stock food items, supplies, and inventory received by the department., • Monitor stock levels and restock stations and storage areas as needed to support continuous service., • Remove food debris from eating utensils, trays, and work areas to maintain cleanliness., • Dispose of waste promptly and safely when bins are full, following facility waste-handling procedures., • Follow all hospital and departmental food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards., • Provide courteous and responsive customer service to patients, staff, and visitors., • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to support smooth daily operations., • Demonstrate consistent attendance, reliability, and accountability in all assigned duties., • At least 1 year of experience in a food service or hospitality setting such as a hospital, hotel, school or university, restaurant, or catering environment., • Basic knowledge of dietary services and food service operations., • Food handling skills with an understanding of food safety and sanitation practices., • Ability to perform cleaning, dish-washing, and sanitizing tasks in a fast-paced environment., • Strong customer service skills with a professional and courteous attitude., • Ability to sort, organize, and stock food items and supplies efficiently., • Basic English skills, including the ability to read, speak, understand, and follow written and verbal directions with sufficient comprehension., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, including passing a lift test as part of the hiring process., • Reliable attendance and strong sense of accountability., • Experience working in a hospital or healthcare facility food service department., • Experience in hospitality, cafeteria, or dietary services in schools, hotels, or similar environments., • Familiarity with tray service in institutional or healthcare settings., • Experience with inventory handling, stocking, and basic record-keeping related to supplies., • Ability to work effectively under general supervision while covering multiple roles within a department. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, CA 90026. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
