Job Description Care Center Manager (Licensed Embalmer) Position Overview The Care Center Manager is responsible for overseeing the central preparation facilities of Jersey Memorial Group. This role blends high-level management with hands-on decedent care, ensuring both operational efficiency and compassionate service. Job Summary As the Care Center Manager, you will provide daily management of the central preparation facility, overseeing embalming, restoration, casketing, and transportation workflows. You will lead the care center attendants, ensuring that all decedents are treated with the utmost respect and technical skill. Core Responsibilities • Operations & Workflow:, • Plan and prioritize daily tasks for embalming, cremation prep, and decedent transportation., • Coordinate staff for ritual washings, identification viewings, and family-involved body preparations., • Dress, Casket, and cosmetics for preparation of visitations, • Team Leadership:, • Supervise and train licensed embalmers, apprentices, and transfer teams., • Conduct annual performance evaluations., • Quality Control:, • Perform and oversee complex restoration and embalming procedures, ensuring compliance with the highest standards for family viewings., • Regulatory Compliance:, • Enforce adherence to OSHA standards, including Bloodborne Pathogen and Formaldehyde regulations., • Ensure accurate state and federal documentation for transfers and preparations., • Logistics & Facility Management:, • Oversee maintenance for transfer vans and hearses with Facilities Manager., • Manage inventory of chemicals, personal protective equipment (PPE), and specialized mortuary equipment as required by the state and needs of the firm, • Directing Services (as needed):, • Confirm authorization to proceed with service arrangements and preside as visitations, funerals, or graveside services in a professional and caring manner consistent with company standards., • Be present for graveside services, • Visually inspect the deceased, adjust casket dressing, attire, or makeup, and communicate any concerns to preparation staff., • Inspect service arrangements (visitation, funeral, or graveside) against contractual agreements and family expectations, initiating corrective actions as necessary and providing guidance to service team members., • Licensure:, • A valid, state-specific Funeral Director and Embalmer License is required (or ability to acquire from a like state)., • Experience:, • A minimum of 5 years in death care operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity., • Physical Requirements:, • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs (some roles may require lifting up to 150 lbs) and to stand for extended periods in a professional preparation environment., • Availability:, • Must be flexible to work on-call shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.Company DescriptionWe have years of experience caring for families, from all walks of life.
