Job DescriptionDental AR Representative - Remote (Contract-to-Hire) Major NYC Health System | Medix Medix is hiring a Dental AR Representative to support the revenue cycle team of a major NYC health system. This is a remote contract-to-hire opportunity for someone with experience in dental billing, accounts receivable follow-up, denials, and insurance resolution. Candidates with strong healthcare AR experience (professional billing/physician billing) will also be considered. Job Details Pay: $21-$25/hour Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM (35 hours/week) Position Type: 5-month contract-to-hire Start Date: ASAP or based on availability Work Location: Remote after required equipment pickup Eligible States: Candidates must reside in NY, NJ, CT, or PA Please Note: A one-time equipment pickup is required in the NYC area (Fort Lee, Westchester, or Manhattan/Brooklyn/Queens). Candidates must be able to complete the equipment pickup requirement prior to starting the fully remote assignment. Job Responsibilities The Dental AR Representative will be responsible for managing outstanding accounts, following up with insurance carriers, and resolving billing issues through completion. Responsibilities include: • Perform AR follow-up on outstanding dental/professional billing accounts, • Review unpaid and denied claims to determine appropriate next steps, • Contact insurance companies regarding claim status, denials, and reimbursement issues, • Submit corrected claims and appeals when necessary, • Resolve claim discrepancies, payment issues, and underpayments, • Handle coordination of benefits (COB) issues, • Research payer requirements and document account activity accurately, • Work assigned accounts through resolution while maintaining productivity expectations, • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing and documentation issues Productivity Expectations This is a metrics-driven revenue cycle role. Expected performance includes: • Working approximately 40-50+ accounts per day, depending on account complexity, • Maintaining accurate notes and documentation within systems, • Meeting quality standards through regular audits and performance reviews, • Managing workload independently while staying organized and meeting deadlines Required Qualifications • 3+ years of experience in dental AR, healthcare AR, or professional billing follow-up, • Experience working insurance claims from submission through resolution, • Strong knowledge of:, • Denials and appeals, • Insurance follow-up, • Claim corrections, • Commercial insurance processes, • Comfortable communicating directly with insurance carriers, • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple accounts Preferred Qualifications • Dental billing experience, • Experience with dental claims and payer workflows, • Professional/physician billing experience, • EPIC experience, • Experience working in a hospital, health system, dental group, or large medical practice environment Work Environment You will be joining a structured revenue cycle team where: • Productivity and quality expectations are clearly defined, • Team meetings and check-ins occur regularly, • Employees are expected to manage assigned accounts independently, • Strong communication and follow-through are important Equipment Information Company equipment will be provided.
