Details • Level II Trauma Center PICU in a newly opened facility (opened May 2026) with 16 PICU beds, • Mixed PICU environment encompassing neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and medical patient populations, • Diverse pediatric patient population including respiratory patients (high-flow, CPAP, BiPAP), trach patients, chemotherapy, RSV, asthma, COVID, MIS-C, new-onset diabetes with insulin drips, chronically ill and oncology patients, trauma (falls, MVAs), and congenital heart defect patients, • Surgical cases include appendectomies, G-tubes, ENT, fresh trachs, bowel obstructions, fractures, VP shunts, cardiac, and neuro surgeries, • No solid organ transplants, major burns, or stem cell transplant patients, • ECMO patients are present on the unit; ECMO management is handled by an ECMO specialist, • CRRT performed using the Prismax machine; travelers with prior CRRT experience may take these patients after training (low volume on unit), • 12-hour night shifts (1900–0700), • 36 hours per week with every other weekend rotation required, • Floating may be required to Med/Surg or ED in a Helping Hands or Constant Observer capacity, • Epic EMR (experience preferred)Requirements, • Active WA RN license or Compact RN license required, • Current BLS and PALS certifications required, • Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required, • Proficiency in aseptic and sterile techniques, basic dressing changes, ventilator and trach management, suctioning, G-tube/J-tube management, feeding tubes, chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, drip management, and Foley insertion and management, • CRRT experience with Prismax preferred, • CICU experience preferred, • At least one supervisor-level reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or above) required; a second reference will be needed prior to start, • Scrubs of any color permitted; hooded shirts and long sleeves are not allowed (sleeves must be able to be pulled above the elbow)Additional Information, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply, • PICU beds are interchangeable with Med/Surg overflow, reflecting the unit's mixed acuity environment, • In rare surge situations, the unit may provide care to patients up to age 30, • Severe facial wounds, eye injuries, or penetrating trauma are transferred to a Level I Trauma Center American Traveler Job ID #P-718417L.
