Houston Habitat has built more than 1,200 homes in 12 Houston neighborhoods, including the Fifth Ward, Clinton Park, Settegast, Sunnyside, and Carverdale. In addition to building, the organization has also repaired homes throughout Houston due to natural disasters; since Hurricane Harvey Houston Habitat has repaired more than 700 homes for families who are without resources to make repairs. Summary Under the direction of the ReStore Manager, the Assistant Manager is responsible for the overall management of the entire sales floor, warehouse, and online storefront. The Assistant Manager supports the ReStore Manager, ensures the smooth operation of the ReStore and the satisfaction of its customers, engages in a wide variety of tasks, and reports to the Manager for achieving sales goals, priorities, or areas where help is needed. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for acting as Manager on Duty and making decisions while the ReStore Manager is away. The Assistant Manager is responsible for leading and managing the store's team and ensuring employees work efficiently, eliminating idle time and disorganization, and executing various projects that assist with the sales and support of the store. Requirements: Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities • To be successful, the ReStore Assistant Manager must build and support a store culture, in alignment of the Houston Habitat for Humanity Mission and behaviors where employees and volunteers are engaged and inspired., • Analyze and interpret sales and financial reporting to access opportunities and determine successes in department’s/key areas and provide guidance to store team to consistently improve in opportunities., • Support ReStore Manager in implementing sales strategies, monitoring sales performance, and motiving team to hit sales targets., • Assist in orientation, training and developing all associates on all Restore processes, merchandising standards, store appearance and profitability., • Assist in hiring, employee scheduling, maintaining employee records, and addressing any employee performance or disciplinary issues that may arise., • Assist ReStore manager in various operational tasks, such as handling all store systems accurately, cash management, opening and closing of the building and its procedures, inventory management, and stock counts., • Effectively communicates and documents progress, concerns, and problems to ReStore Manager. (Operations Manager or Director in the absence of the ReStore Manger), • Help ensure the proper handling and processing of incoming donation flow in and out of the store according to Habitat for Humanity International policies and procedures., • Performs other duties as assigned by Leadership. Additional Responsibilities • Demonstrate professionalism and present a friendly, cooperative attitude., • Must present full, regular, and predictable attendance, possess the ability to multitask, be able to communicate effectively, both orally and through written means, possess the ability to analyze and solve problems and be skilled in project management., • Adheres to all HHFH Policies & Procedures, Safety Regulations and HFHF Guiding Principles., • Consult with the store manager and Human Resource Manager (when appropriate) to effectively handle any workplace accidents on injured employees, volunteers, or costumers in a timely and accurate manner., • Attending scheduled staff meetings and company-wide training as requested or required to support the growth of our Mission. Qualifications and Skills: • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in work experience is preferred., • Minimum of 3 years of management/supervisory experience is preferred., • Minimum of 3 years of Cash Management, • Minimum of 3 years of Inventory Management, • Minimum of 3 years of monitoring and improving sales targets, • Proficient with Microsoft Software and Operating Systems, • Effective time management and organizational skills., • Ability to communicate and interact well with a variety of personality types., • High level of flexibility, • Natural talent for motivating and developing teams. Operation of equipment may be required at any time. Duties are primarily performed in an indoors environment and may from time to time require the employee to help unload a truck or load a customer’s vehicle in an outdoor environment.
