Job DescriptionDescription: JOB TITLE: Supervisor, School-Based Early Support Program DEPARTMENT: Family Counseling EXEMPTION: Exempt REPORTS TO: Program Director of School-Based Early Support SUPERVISES: Three Family Counselors and One Case Aide PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: This is an exciting new supervisory position in the School-Based Early Support Program, a new preventive services model that enhances school-based partnerships in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. This is a unique opportunity to bring leadership and collaboration skills to co-design and pilot a new program. The Supervisor will oversee a team of Family Counselors and a Case Aide to provide counseling and case management to families connected to our school partners. The Supervisor is a pivotal member of the leadership team, participating in program design and relationship building with key stakeholders. I. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to • Supervise 3 full-time Family Counselors and 1 full-time Case Aide providing counseling and case management to 36 families, and facilitating groups and school-based activities across 4 schools in Sunset Park, • Provide clinical and administrative guidance for work with families using a family systems perspective and a focus on increasing families’ economic stability, • In coordination with the Program Director, embody a leadership presence, including providing the philosophical framework related to the CFL neighborhood-based, family-focused, social group work practice?model, • Co-plan and co-lead staff meetings and provide professional training workshops, • Attend sessions with Family Counselors and families to collaborate and model for staff, including home visits, when needed, • Directly manage crises and provide coverage for client care as needed, • Coordinate staff’s participation in school-based outreach and engagement activities, • As part of the leadership team plan and support implementation of parent and children’s groups, • Support the implementation of the Families and Schools Together (FAST) program, led by the School Outreach Liaison, including attending training and possibly co-facilitating groups, • Manage effective collaboration between Family Counselors and the Benefits Specialist to ensure that all families are screened and enrolled in needed benefits, • Help plan and contribute to school-based outreach and engagement activities to develop relationships with partner schools and families, • Collaborate closely with CFL school-based programs (after school, Neighborhood Center, etc.), • Ensure supervisees complete required training and have professional development plans, • Ensure proper and timely utilization of PROMIS and CONNECTIONS, • Ensure all case record documentation is maintained and meets ACS and OCFS standards, • Complete required documentation and data entry, • Attend program staff meetings, supervision, school-based meetings, and trainings, • Build relationships with community-based service providers and key stakeholders, • Collaborate with all CFL programs to ensure an integrated approach to serving families, • MSW or an equivalent human services graduate degree, • License and prerequisites for supervising Master’s degree level interns, preferred, • Bilingual in Spanish or Mandarin required, • Previous Supervisory experience required, • At least two years of relevant child welfare experience, • Previous direct service work with families, • Experience working in, or in partnership with, schools preferred, • Groupwork skills and experience preferred, • Build and maintain close, daily interactions with co-workers, supervisors, and school staff, • Effectively communicate with agency staff, school staff, community partners, key stakeholders, and families, • Excellent engagement skills, meeting families where they are at and forging mutual respect, • Experience or interest in social group work, • Have a strong sensitivity to cultural differences present among staff and clients within our organization, • Committed to guiding, coaching, and professional development of staff, • Work will occur between school and office settings, • Considerable time is spent at a desk using a computer, • Attendance at various meetings at schools, the agency, and in the community, • Regular travel among four schools located in the school district and CFL’s main office, • Some availability during evenings and weekends is required to manage crises, attend community events The Supervisor provides leadership for a team of staff within the School-Based Early Support Program, helping develop a new program in partnership with schools, CFL programs, and families. They are essential to promoting attuned casework and counseling for families through supervision and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. They are an ambassador for CFL and lead staff by example interacting at all times with a tone of respect and kindness, generosity, and solution-focused problem-solving.
